What an Awesome car!!! Makes me wonder if I should give up on my 60 and get a later model....LOL Had a 68 fastbak for a bit back in 80, but some young guys wanted it and I sold it right away before I had the chance to drive it much...Was only a SB car with an Auto.

I have two friends on the case.. They have access to my money, and a trailer... How much "rot" is acceptable? The driveline and interior should be worth what? 5 thou?

Please tell me you're not intending to buy that rare car and dismantle it for the drivetrain...

I live 20 minutes away from this car ... I'm going to see it, and I might buy it.

I'll give it a good home, and I WON'T hack it apart!

Nice to see a an unmolested car like that for that price! Interesting to see how bad the underside might be when the engine bay/bady look pretty clean...

That's good!  All this talk about how much drivetrain and interiors are worth was making me nervous.  I started wishing I had never posted it in the first place, as the reason for posting was in the hope that somebody on this site would know the historical value of that car and give it the care that it deserves.  I mean, even if it has a lot of body rot, it would be worth giving it a frame-off reconstruction IMHO.

I get a little nervous about what happens to the big cars with big blocks in them, as I also have spent some time in the Mopar camp, where it's commonplace to buy nice clean examples of the big cars (C-bodies in Mopar speak) like 300s, New Yorkers, Furys and such and yank the drivetrain to put in a clapped out Roadrunner or Cuda or whatever, because the C-bodies can be bought cheap and the muscle and pony cars are worth a bundle these days.  Being a fan of the big cars I cringe every time I see a nice C-body go to the crusher with its drivetrain extracted (and it happens more than I care to know).

I expect a little more from this site, as Canadian Pontiacs (and their non-Pontiac [?] smaller brethren) are very unique and special cars unto themselves, and the folks who come here seem to have a real appreciation for their historical value.  I'd hate to see an amazingly rare and unique one like this turn into another drivetrain donor or hot rod or lowrider... or (barf) donk!

Like I said, if I were in a position to buy it right now the car would already be in my driveway and I wouldn't be typing this... so I hope it gets the care it deserves, which it sounds like it will if somebody here gets it!  smile
