Can anyone tell me if the exterior door handles and side mirror are the same or different as other gm cars of the period, ie will a 63 impala have the same handles and mirror or should i be looking at something else im right on the usa border so access to the us market is great, but the canadian pontiac is a whole new adventure,,thanks ga
The rectangular mirrors on this red 63 car are aftermarket. The correct mirror for the door is round. There is also a fender mirror with remote cable that sits on the fender, but it is usually found on the US makes.
The blue 64 Catalina has the correct door mirror for 63-68 US & Canadian Pontiacs; the white 63 Bonneville has the correct remote fender mirror for the US cars. Not sure if the remote is correct for the Canadian cars.
I also believe some Canadian Pontiacs in 64 may have carried the 64 Chevrolet door mirror. Had a 64 Parisienne 4 door HT that had the Chevy mirror.
As far as I know, all the CDN. Pontiacs had the round mirrors mounted on the door. The US ones had the fender mounted mirror w/ remote [ as my 64 Catalina has] but I'm not sure on "non remote" on US cars????

Some times I wake up GRUMPY, but today I let her sleep in !!!!!!!!BLACKSTOCK Ont.
Round door mounts were available on 63 & 64 US cars. The fender mounts were remotes on the drivers side and manual on the passenger side. I have left & right fender mounts on my 63 Catalina.
Thanks for all the info guys. We have to get something as the BOSS lady usually drives it to the shows out of town.(I take truck & travel trailer) She is height challenged so mirrors would make it safer . Any thoughts on where to order these from? Terry

63 and 64 CANADIAN pontiacs used the same mirrors as the 63 and 64 impalas, and 64-65 chevelles. That is why the canadian made mirrors do not have a bowtie. If you check with lategreat chevys. they have Offshore mirrors with no bowtie. They are cheaper than the bowtie ones, but that is just a bonus for us Canadians!!
Mirrors in those years were only dealer installed accessories, that is why you will see a variety of style and locations, depending on what the dealer had in stock adn what the customer prefered.

..BadABody I just sent you a reply re your remote mirror. Unfortunately if it's a fender mirror it won't work for our car. We would need a door-mounted unit. I'll take a used one from anybody else that may have one. I almost bought a remote door mirror from DoctaHouse but it was pretty rusty. If anybody has one I need the rubber gasket that goes between the mirror and the door for our pass. side mirror. I can get a new one I guess but with the part cost the shipping isn't really worth it...the mirror that's on our dr. side now is actually very close to a generic GM unit but it has the Buick logo on the back, so obviously it was installed later. If I can get a decent and correct remote unit I will..
