My 2 70's

Here's a couple pic's of my 2 70 GTO's.I still have to put all new front end parts and the engine in the 455 car.The yellow GTO is a US made car that I picked up on Ebay.I needed something fast to go to Safeway.

Nice cars.

I should of said :It was my grocery(safeway) getter. Also good for a run to Tim Hortons as well. It's a little loud thru the drivethru.I just put on a new Magnaflow exhaust system with the X pipe and headers. It's a nice kit they sell for the A body

Nice cars, either of them a 4 speed ? How much work did the yellow one need if any when you bought it ?

They are both auto's.The yellow one had been sitting for a few years. There was electrical problems.See pic's(The switch in the steering column was hacked. The licence plate light wire was inbetween the bumper and body.I blew a few fuses till I tracked that down.)The tires looked new in the pic's,but had cracks in the sidewalls.Needed new brakes and drums all around.New carb. Was missing tranny lockout setup to steering column.Missing all the A/C .Wouldn't shift right and no low gear(changed out shifter and it had the wrong cable.Had to modify tranny bracket so it would go into low gear)Replaced carpet and drivers seat.Still have to replace headliner and dash and wiring harness
Whoever worked on this car before I got it was a nomind. The lines to the tranny cooler were not flared(blew off in my garage )Just using wrong parts and making them fit.The paint has bubbles in it from either water or oil in the lines when they painted it.
On the upside the motor is 160 across the board.Tranny is good only had to replace the  gasket and same with the rearend.Body is solid and not a rust bucket.
The first question when buying a car off Ebay should be.Can this car do a coast  to coast trip.
I'm happy with it now that all the bugs are out of it.I've made two long trips with it and no problems.I had a low bid on it and didn't think I would get it anyways.

All things considered, it sounds like you got a pretty good deal on the yellow car.  Is that your daily driver, or reserved strictly for special runs to the grocery store and Timmies?biggrin

Yeah it's a good deal, but it sure did nickel an dime me for a while.I got it for the purpose as a daily driver.I said I wasn't going to redo this one.Just get it on the road  and drive it.
Man was I mistaken.I have a sick addiction of seeing something wrong with my car and then needing to fix it.(Depending on money)
Hopefully I don't save enough to do the paint.

Sweet little Goat farm you've got happening there!!!

Have you put the grab on the PHS documents for your cars yet?.

I thought your Safeway comment was referring to a Dragstrip?.

I have the PHS for one and the other is Canadian,so it's from GM of Canada.
It's not as bad being sent out for milk and bread in a GTO............. than in the family car.A couple more modafications to the goat and I'll be able to make it there and back during a TV commercialbiggrin

Nice cars ! I went camping to Westhawk Lake MB. last week and seen a white 70 GTO 455 convertible with red stripes and interior. Buddy was from Lockport MB. and was using his car to go golfing, I forgot to ask him if he pulled it behind his motorhome, from home to the campground. They didn't build to many of these 455 GTO's in 1970.

Thanks: No there's not too many 455 cars.I think they made more 1970 Judges than 455 cars.

There was a raffle car in Steinbach Mb many years ago that was a 70 GTO 455 and it was white with red guts. I see the car at shows from time to time. It could well have been the car you saw.

There was only 158-455 man convertibles and 241 auto. So a rare sighting indeed.

Had to rip out my int and put sound deadner. Then put it all back. Had my console in and out 10 times to get placements of the brackets. Even had my son working on the old goat.

Kids are great for small places that the old man doesn't fit anymore.
Loaded her up and took her to a buddy that will finish her .
