The love for Canadian Built Pontiacs, Acadians and Beaumonts isn't confined to Canada. There are many folks from all over the world who also share the passion for these cars. One such person is James (aka jfkheat) who hails from Laurens, South Carolina. His gorgeous 1968 Beaumont SD396 is our July feature car and I'm sure you'll agree that his Beaumont is the perfect blend of stock and modified components. Here's a little more about the car in James' own words:
"The car is a real 1968 SD396 car but the original engine is long gone. It now has an early 1969 4 bolt main 427 bored .060 with square port heads. It is basically a 1969 L-72 engine with some modifications. The engine has floating pin rods with Wiseco pistons with 10.7 to 1 compression, a Crane hydraulic cam with .533 lift and 282 duration, Manley stainless steel valves, Edelbrock RPM AirGap intake with an 850 Holley, MSD ignition and 2" Hooker headers with 3" exhaust. The car has a TH400 transmission with a 3000 stall converter.
The car came from the factory with a couple pretty rare options like tilt wheel, disk brakes with 4 piston calipers and an under dash mounted 8 track tape player. I have the tape player but have not installed it yet. My intentions are to keep the car looking fairly original until you open the hood.
As far as I know, there are no other Beaumonts in the state of South Carolina. The car gets a lot of attention at the local shows and cruise-ins because it is something most people here have never seen."

Todd, thank you for making it the feature car this month. Thank you guys for all the nice comments. I haven't it down the drag strip yet. I still have a couple bugs to work out. The drag strip is on the list of things to do but it may be next year or late this year. I really like the engine decals but wish I had one for a bit higher HP designation, maybe 500 HP or so.
