Since we have a thread going about the best cars we ever owned, it only seems fitting to have a "worse car you ever owned" thread as well. I'll start by saying my 65 F*rd Galaxie 500xl was the worse turd I ever had. It had a 390 with a toploader 4 speed. The car was the WORSE handling car I've ever driven. The shifter would bind leaving me embarrased at the side of the road. It had a very thirsty 750 Holley that this 18 year old (at the time) could barely afford to feed. The rad always leaked no matter how many times I had it fixed. I still remember my dad saying "Why did you buy a damn Ford??" I remember cruising one night with a buddy. I was sitting at a stoplight and there was a cop sitting at the light in the oncoming lane. Just then my headlight switch decided to act up and the breaker would go on and off in it-causing the headlights to flash on and off. Cop thought I was trying to get his attention. Very embarassing. The cops loved to follow me in that car (I don't know why...) Another night I was sitting at an intersection and some drunk chick came running towards the car and ran right into the right rear quarter panel. It hurt her more than the car! The Z-bar for the clutch busted (luckily in my driveway). Luckily a neighbor had an arc welder.. I was so glad to see that car go down the road. I'd post a pic but it'd probably crash the site- it was that cursed! Todd
not a car but a truck. a 79 F250 camper special i bought to tow my 55 from BC to Ont. it blew the electronic module on the kokahala highway, then the tow company charged me for 2 tow trucks. the 460 had bad compression and would blow the dip stick about every 500 miles or so if i kept my foot out of the pedal, come on i'm towing another vehicle in the summer. i rear ended someone in Alberta in a construction zone on the transcan, i'll take the fault on this one but i didn't see them till, actually i never did see them till they shot forward from contact with the bumper when i cleared a little rise. i never could figure out why they stopped on the blind side of the mound. it cost over $1000 to drive from Vancouver island to Ottawa, now remember this was in 89 not with todays prices. rad crapped out first week in Ottawa, hit a deer with it the first month, deer poop all the way down one side. coast $500 in gas for commuting the first month. (bought 4 honda civic to make a commuter beater but thats another story) sold it to my brother but kept the loan in my name, he bounced the first payment. replaced the 460 with a 302. this was another night mare. nothing in ford switched between motor families. sold it finally for a fraction of what it was worth. only owned it for 2 months and a very expensive 2 months.
81 dodge 1/2ton,90hp 1bbl 225 slant six,4spd could not use 4th because it had 90hp rusted windshield frame, rusted bed, rusted floor,no power steering, went through more oil than gas,if you could get it to 100km/h it would shake the truck was free, drove it for 3 years in HS and college made a part trade with it for the 2+2,the truck plus $2300,so it wasn't all that bad

I got a $uper-good deal. Actually, I had all the plans/instructions on how to install a 305 V-8 in the car. I kept the plans in the glove box for the future dream ... but the car was a nightmare, the plans never made it out of the glove box! Rust, blowing oil, tranny problems, and eventual loss of power (as if there was power to begin with.
I had to continually repair the car as it existed, therefore no V-8 Vega.
I did like the "baby Camaro" hatchback styling.

Would have to be the 1990 Dodge colt....I needed a car a a buddies neighbor had this thing, it was a thing of beauty, LED lights everywhere, "cammo" tarp and "zebra" carpet interior, thought it would be a good beater to drive to work....Owned it for two days, it lost power everytime I drove it, got to the point I had to go up hills in first gear at about 10kmh. Needless to say, I dropped it off right where I got it...Only lost $100 on that one. I have owned several Dodge/Chrysler products(60's/70's), but the tranny's don't seem to last in them.

84 Reliant K car... not the worst car, it worked for its purpose, but the least appealing that i've owned... i lived cheap thru my university days, and i remember during finals, the regulator went and the car wouldnt charge the battery, i didnt have time to fix it, so i charged it every night and drove to university (across the city 30 min)... it only had an AM radio, but the radio would start to cut out reception and that was my 1 minute warning that the car was going to die... i had a 50' extension cord and my battery charger, so i'd find a place to pull over quick and charge the battery to make it to school or home... did that for about a week!!
My worst car was a 74 Pontiac Astre GT,GM Vega clone. Bought it in 76 kept it about 4 months before I threw in the towel. Man,were they crappy cars! So my best was a Pontiac Bonneville SSEi, I think I see a pattern here.
I would have to say my 1988 Mustang Cobra conv.It went thru 5 fuel pumps and driving in the rain was crazy. The rear end was always breaking loose in turns and at high speed the car would pick up and float.Great car on dry roads, but add water and I'm parking it. Plus I got 4 tickets in it and one was for 80 kms over the speed limit
