It's getting closer. A show of hands on who is going? What are you bringing?

I'm going to try hard this year. I've said it every year and haven't made it yet.
I actually tried last year, but got stuck in a traffic jam at the border in Sarnia. I sat there on the highway for over an hour and never moved an inch. I gave up and went home.

I want to take my 68 2+2, but I'll have to be careful of overheating during the cruise. I might have to take lots of breaks to cool down.

instead of going on the bluewater bridge if its busy you just head down to Sombra which is south along the river and take the ferry there. plus if your overheating you just grab some water from the lake!!

Hey 59poncho,

Good idea about the Sombra ferry option and it's usually reliable.

However, I did try it last year and found cars lined up back on the River Rd, right out of Sombra. I've never seen it so busy.

I don't want to scare others off of this route, because this was an epidemic last year at this time at the border. Things have been much better lately at both crossings, even on weekends. Still, be sure to add some extra time for border crossings, if you want to get there.

It's worth the effort !!

I've never had to wait more then half an hour at Sarnia. First time we drove right to the booth over in minutes. Although I usually drive out on Thursday morning.

Yes, worth the effort.

LOL, you dug that out just cuz I said it was my favourite ad last night.biggrin

Here's the GTO show info for 65 Camino:

http://www.gtotigers.org/

I will be there from Wed. through Sat.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, if there is only one automotive event I could go to each year, this would be it.  If you have never been before, it will blow you away.  And it is not all on Saturday which is the official cruise day, people start showing up a week beforehand now and the cruising is heavy every evening leading up to Sat., in fact it is somewhat better from a driving perspective as traffic is actually moving whereas on Sat. there is a lot of stop and go.  Sat. is actually better to just walk up Woodward and look at all the official displays and cars parked on every single available space.wink

It's really the story behind the ad that is more interesting!
