My name is Pascal and I have been in the Pontiac Hobby since 1988. I am obssessed with 1961-75 Pontiac ever since, must be because I was born the same year of the GTO ! My first car was a 66 GTO 389 4 barrel M20 4 speed in 1988, along with a 75 Firebird 350 beater, in 1990. After, I sold the Firebird in 92 and the GTO in 1995. 11 years later, I was still looking for a decently priced 65 GTO but it never happened, in the mean time, I bought and sold many American Pontiac engines and parts (mostly 455's). In december 2006, I settled for the next best thing, a 1972 Luxury Lemans Sport Coupe 400 #s match, one of only 33 built in Oshawa with the GTO options, such as 400 YS, Qjet and 7k3 heads, dual snorkel, dual exhaust, buckets, console, turbo 400 transmission, 12 bolt rearend 3.31 ratio, rally wheels, 140 mph speedometer. The car was originally painted Anaconda Gold with white vinyl roof. I am slowly restoring my car and am hoping to have it ready in a couple of years.
Hi Pascal, sounds like a fun bunch of Pontiacs have pasted through your hands. Hope you find this site as useful as I have for information and motivation to keep those Pontics alive!
Here are some pics, the previous owner got the car repainted red but as I said the original color is Anaconda gold with white vinyl roof. I will get it back to a different gold with a black GT stripe, because I am not crazy about that gold.
Thanks for posting some pictures. There is a 71 Luxury Lemans not too far from me. It is just sitting and rotting away.
The sad part is that the 71 will be a parts car. If the trend continues as parts cars; Maybe one day my 400 Lemans might be worth restoring. Unless the price of the Lemans goes higher. On the Power Hour TV show they restored a 67 Lemans. They put over $17,000 into the car. I don't think that included their time. The car was appraised at $17,500
Hi Carl ! I know you too, I am the one who bought your old 455 block missing a cap and MT Pontiac valve covers. How are you ? I will be at the Garden city big carshow soon and hope to see you there, also maybe at the fall Morden swapmeet, I hope it's bigger this year and that Luc will show up with more Pontiac parts. You wouldn't know by any chance who's got a 70-72 Lemans-Tempest parts car or rear valance and exterior chrome trims in the Manitoba country ? Pascal
It is usually in october, that Vavavoom parts guy usually hand out flyers. Oh yes, the guy at the scrapyard beside the Morden drive-in puts it on, ask him. Pascal
Here are some pic's of the 400 emblems. Good for a daily driver. The passenger side is not what I thought.I'll send you a PM on a new price. I did a quick check on Greyhound for shipping the rockers and it's around $20-$25.Canada Post has a max of 2 meters(what the H is that)
