I found that an mid 70s Camaro or Firebird 10 bolt rear end fits beautifully in a 53/54 Cdn Pontiac. You can use the original springs if you make the lowering blocks and spring plate as described on my rear suspension webpage. One thing that I would do differently is to put anti-seize in the rubber suspension bushings. It stops the squeaking of the suspension.
