Do you have an original 65-67 Acadian Canso console??? Pics please.

If you have an original Canso console I would like to see a picture to see if it has these two dimples in the front section. Seems some do, some don't and I'm trying to figure out a pattern.   Thanks.

I think they used the same one as the Nova SS and never drilled the holes to mount the SS emblem. However, some of them have no dimples there at all.

I just can't seem to figure out which cars used the dimples and which didn't. It seems totally random. My 65 automatic console is smooth as well, but the console in my first 65 SD car I owned in 74 had dimples like the one in my picture at the top of this thread.

On top of that, the 65 Acadian 4 speed console has two very nice looking rivets filling in the holes where the SS emblem would go on a Nova. When I saw the first console that had them, I assumed someone had done this later, not GM when the console was new. Then I got pictures of another factory 4 speed Acadian console and it has identical rivets. That is more than coincidence.

One of life's great Acadian mysteries!!

The first picture below is my 4 speed console. You can see the 2 rivets I refer to. Similar to the console with dimples but not the same.

The second picture is my automatic console. It comes from a car built about 4 weeks later than the car that has the console in the opening picture of this thread. My console is smooth, yet the other car is dimpled.

I keep asking this question everywhere I think Acadian guys will see it. Sooner or later, someone will be able to give me an answer or at least a clue as to why they are different.

I have two, both 67 Canso's and one has holes in it and the other has nothing. I don't know if either are orig. Tough question.

I would be willing to bet they are both original. It seems to be the luck of the draw. No pattern yet that I can see as to how it was decided.

Would you be willing to post pics of that area of each console?

one way to tell whats what, is look up the part numbers. I have found even though both parts exact same as for Chevelle and Beaumont, both have different numbers. May help with if its Acadian or Nova console. same as everyone else looks like rivet hole for SS emblem in Nova SS. was my first impression

We've discussed this too Carl, and my console is the original and it has the two rivets. Strange that some don't.

The rivets or dimples are for an emblem similar to a Nova SS but the Acadian version has a red Maple leaf with a black border around it.

I have seen that emblem talked about but it does not appear in any Acadian sales literature or parts books. Do you have any pictures of what it looks like?

And the interesting thing with these Acadian consoles is this. They come three ways:

1) Smooth as in my one picture above.

2) Dimpled but no rivets or holes where the dimples are as shown above.

3) Drilled holes and rivets filling the holes as shown above.

An emblem will make it a fourth way.

It almost sounds like there was a interuption in the production of that part. Dimpled before the drill prosess and then drilled for emblem. But if there was a change to put a stop on the emblem then instead of scrapping the already dimpled or drilled parts they put a rivet in the hole's.  Its just a thought.

I agree, it was my thought also. However, from taking data from a few cars, the variations are scattered. The same type can be in an early or late car, with a different style between. So far, no pattern at all.
