Holy, here is the car I was talking about that was for sale in Moosejaw back in 1994 that I coulda bought for $7500 ! one owner. I just talked to the guy who purchased it back then and still owns it 14 years later and he's asking 34000$ now. For some reason I thought it was a Judge back then, probably because of the stripes, still a very rare car with the 455HO, small world. Pascal

Last time I saw it, was at a carshow in Regina summer 1995 I think. Sometimes pictures are nicer than real life, looks like he waxed it real good, it wasn't that shiny when I was beside it, but the 455 HO was for real ! Back in 1994, it was for sale in the Auto Trader as well, and the pic of the car was in the owner's garage. This guy said he only put 10000 miles since. Wish me luck on the lottery this weekend ! In Hamilton back in 1981, next door to work I remember seeing a really hot sounding 1971 GTO convertible 455 H.O M22 non Judge. Rolling stock was the large 15x7 size honeycomb wheels. It was quite rusty unfortunately, but appeared to have original, faded and rusty paint. The car was Mulsanne Blue with a white convertible top & black interior. the 455 H.O. decals were still on it. I'll bet it was stripped of goodies then probably scrapped due to the rust (I never saw the car again).
I'll bet that money would have talked, but in order to preserve the pedigree a re-body would not have been the way (as practical a solution as it would've been). Woulda coulda shoulda...

In 1981, what would have been the most practical way to repair the car? Rebody it, and no one would have thought twice about it back then...

I believe that car was in St Catharines in the late 1980's, it sat right near the Geneva Street exit which is all different now-it was $500 really tough-had to be it how many would be like that and the same color combo.
A guy here in Welland has a 71 hardtop (red) I located for him back in 2002, 29,000 mile car but wrong engine was raced in the early 70's then stored many years, 455HO M22-he bought it in the mid 20's very nice frame on resto

Ken I think saw this car and it was a 70 one owner,me and my friend still laugh the guy who owned it was Dougie the Druggie and he said to us "those are NOS fenders" the were rotted around the wheel lip and on the bottom to the brace,yes Dougie NOS 20 years ago

The owner is Dave Maddelena, moved from an MGB to a 455 M22 !The car came from Burlington-I don't know Harry-there was a guy in town Dave Johnston he had a 70 Judge (blue) it sold for $500 and a bag of weed but that was before my car days likely 81 or 82 maybe 84 at the latest-he had a nickname Harry, then Gary got it then another who sold it in 97 for $7000, there was also one that George on Gram ave had it went to the Falls painted red at QRS in the 90's then went to Black Tie I think
The guy with the rag in St Catharines I believe was also a drugy so you may be right.
Cameron did the 71 convertible in Hamilton have 2X4bl's on it? and/or was it in the West end?
I don't know if it had 2x4s on it, all that I know is that it sounded like it had a wicked cam in it, all rumpety rumpety and it shook the car.
Yes, the car was in the West End of Hamilton, in Westdale on Ofeild Ave. right next door to Fidelity Van & Storage. Like I said, it was 1981.
It's funny, but in Westdale I used to see a 1972 Hurst Olds convertible going way back into the early to mid 1970s. They only made 130 of those, but how many came to Canada? The car was always spotless. In the late 1970s / early 1980s I remember it was rolling on Centerline spun wheels, the kind without any holes. A few years ago I saw an article in Musclecar Review of a Hurst Olds convertible from Stoney Creek, which has to be the same car.
In Westdale I also used to see a really nice 1970 Rebel Machine, possibly the same car I saw come out of a barn in 1975. The last time I saw it in 1979 it was rusted out and burning oil. A year or 2 later I saw a 304 Rebel SST with a 4-speed and a Rebel Machine hood on it. I wonder what that meant...
In Westdale around Whitney Plaza there was a 1969 Rambler SC390 with the B paint scheme. It had traction bars and slicks mounted on black steel wheels out back.
In my home town of Ancaster there was a doctor, Dr. Balfor, who used to live in an estate on the mountain brow in Hamilton. Later he lived in Ancaster on Halson Street. He alway had good taste in cars. In 1971 he bought a '71 Trans Am, Cameo White with blue stripes, 455 H.O. & M22 rock crusher. Normally he kept his nice cars out of winter driving duty (66 K-motor Mustang GT convertible with a/c & cruise-a-matic, plus a mid-sixties Jag XK-E 2+2; I remember seeing both those cars at his house in 1967), but for some reason the Trans Am was driven in winter for a few years. The front spoiler was broken, it had some minor door dings, then the rust started to appear. It could have been saved easily at that point, but instead he parked it in his driveway around 1976 under a pine tree. It sat for years until the tires went flat, tree sap all over it and dust stuck to that. It was heartbreaking to see. From what I saw the old guy just sort of lost his mind, retiring to the 3rd floor of his house and burning just 1 light. His 1 son grabbed the Mustang and still has it as far as I know. I don't think the car has even been wet in 30 years (he also owns a red 71 Pantera!). The other son had the yellow Jag with wire wheels, but I havent seen it since about 1978.

Had a chance to but 2 Rebel Machines in 1993 on Hamiton cetral mountain,one was auto with correct but not original 390 but southern car,other was Canadain car very solid #'s match 4spd me and a friend are still kicking each other.$1800 for the pair,these cars were in the Triad for the longest time.
I know Mr Balfor,the 71 T/A ended up in the garage on W5th,I had a deal with one of the son's for $700 bucks,Dad got wind of it and sold it to a friends son for $100.I ended uptrading the 780 Holley of my 69 Judge for the complete shaker.The son I know has a Jensen (440 Mopar power I think)
