I got a lot more parts for the 55 than just brakes and bushings. The brake kit was $625.00 and it is complete but standard height. This was a good price as compared to a couple of years ago when they were $1095 in Canada. Our dollar was just about par with the US dollar when I made my purchase.
I'll email you my address. If you need any trim parts or oddball stuff for your 56 let me know as I have 2 1955 Canadian Pontiac parts cars. I knew the answer of your picture question but I wanted to see who else would answer. I am going with an original 2 speed electric wiper motor in the wagon as I had one in my parts stash for a few years. Thanks for the bushings. I'll have to find something for Carl for one of his cars. Al
Yeah our economy is in the toilet down here south of the border, glad at least someone is benefitting by having more affordable parts!
Your bumpers will be in the mail tomorrow. More later about what I might need, maybe you've got extras in your stash.
The 2-speed electric is a good one, I had a (non-functional) vacuum motor and I remember what those were like, step on the gas and the wiper stops, not fun! I decided as long as I had to replace it, I would yield to the modern convenience of intermittent wipers too, hence the Raingear system. We get a lot of rain down here, especially in the summer, and sometimes the constant speed just doesn't work too well.

Sorry to change topic on you guys..But I have been tring to hunt down the paint code for my L head flat 6. I figure its to be a kind of Ford model T green. For My 54 Pathfinder. But the right code would help to get the right green anyway. Anyone in the know where I coud find the right info..Thanks Rod
That's a great looking car you got Dave. It's the brother to mine. Charles.
Actually yours looks MUCH better than mine!
I hope to have mine off jack stands in the next month or so, on the road with the 261 and all new running gear (completely rebuilt front and rear suspension with new springs, shocks, etc., and new front power disc brakes on 2" dropped spindles, and rebuilt rear drums with a self-adjusting kit). Got to finish the interior too, I'm almost done painting (two-tone black and silver to match tuck-and-roll upholstery) (after fixing several large dents and many nicks and scratches, did I mention that I am sick and tired of sanding?) and then install refurbished gauges and trim, plus while I've got good access, the Raingear wiper system.
Charles, please e-mail me some pictures of your nice ride!
Thanks, Dave

Actually I'm shooting for the early 60's, the time of my misspent youth
50's cars were plentiful and cheap then, I owned several (55 Ford and 55 Mercury, both 2-door sedans, nosed and decked with custom metallic paint - ice blue on the Ford, mint green on the Merc) and my folks did too (55 Chrysler for my dad. 55 Bel Air hardtop for my mom - I talked both of them into letting me nose and deck them but never got around to custom paint).
Always wanted to drop a boneyard Pontiac 389 into the 55 Chevy but time and money didn't permit ...
And now my 56 Pathfinder to take me back to happy times
Speaking of which, I've got to get back to the garage, finished the driver's side rear suspension this morning (new custom high-arch springs, new KYB gas shocks, new shackles and bushings, etc. - see pic below) but still more to do (rebuild rear brakes, install new master cylinder and power booster, etc. etc. etc.)!
Full Size Chevy 1955-57 Complete 2" Drop Kit Includes 11" Rotors, Loaded Large GM Calipers, 2" Drop Spindles, Hoses with Banjo Bolts, Vacuum Hose with Intake Manifold Fittings, Bearings, Seals, Dust Caps, Spindle Nuts, Spindle Washers, all Hardware, Cast Iron Master Cylinder, Brass Proportioning Valve with pre-bent hard lines and a Power Brake Booster.
Your choice of boosters, I got 7" (small to clear big block) dual diaphragm (more stopping power), but you can choose 8" or 9" if you wanted.
They also have a kit with standard height spindles, I am glad I got the 2" drop, it makes the car sit better.
They only deal with auto-related businesses, so you will have to keep that in mind if you contact them. They do not sell retail. They supply places like Summit Racing.
Shipping was reasonable considering how heavy it all was (rotors, calipers, master cylinder all cast iron and of course forged spindles).
Hope this helps.
Dave
