A buddy of mine use to take his belts, not the retractors of course, to the local laundrymat late at night and toss them in with a good detergent. They use to come out spotless---Mind you, the same couldn't necessarily be said about the washing machines!!!!! Or use an old one you don't care about???
I run them through the dishwasher snd they come out cleaner. Might need more than one cycle and for sure need the missus away while this activity is undertaken.

As above, use the pressure washer if necessary.. I've had great luck removing grease, gum, tar etc. using them w/ dish soap...just if you do need to use one, nobody said hold the wand against the webbing...back the frig up!.

I also use the dishwasher to do a final cleaning of my Carburetor castings befor rebuilds. Dishwasher also works great for dog dishes(and i dont mean the pet food ones).

I am thinking you have a dishwasher in your shop but I have to ask.
I know that I just wait for the missus to be away for a couple of hours before I use the dishwasher. Just think of the grease and crud that normally runs through it. She doesn't know, hasen't complained and if there's a problem I will have to deal with it anyways.

Nope, carbs do make it stink for a few cycles, but it goes away. Seatbelts, hubcaps are no problem, probably cleaner than the dishes that go through it

I have to let my wife read these replies. I get "the look" when I have any parts in the house. Sometimes I have a hard time getting myself in the house.
