Hi Guys,Here are some pictures of my GTO which I have owned for 16 years.Bought it the way it looks in the pics.Good from far and far from good!.It is an Oshawa built 455 car,not #'s match but it does have the correct year motor.Had the motor rebuilt last winter(2nd time in a 1000 miles). It runs great now and have put on Over 1500 miles this year.Since owning the car I have put on 60,000 miles+.Its been all over Ontario and Michigan. It needs a body/paint job,but will have to wait cause of the engine rebuild.I almost sold when the 1st rebuild went south, but I love driving it too much, plus my kids were horrified at the prospect. The colour is originally burgundy and I added the ram air system.I also went with a hyd roller set up and man what a difference! Love it.Hi 427 Carl I hope you see this,Great meeting you at pumpkinfest.Take care all.
RORY!!!! Welcome, man! How have you been? Long time no see! Did you go to Pete's on Saturday? I came by rather late, but there were still sausages left! What's the scoop on the first engine build going south? PM me the details.
Car still looks great!

Welcome on this great site ! I love GTO's too and the 455's cars...Does yours have the 64 heads ? Nice to see that you love driving your car so much especially now that the price of gas went down a little, god only knows how long this is going to last LOL!
Thanks for welcome everyone.Hi Hillar,I can't remember the last time I saw you.I have been Ok,taking it easy as they say.No longer a member of the GTO club as I have kind of lost interest. When the motor went south it really hit me hard and I stepped away from the car for a year.I am back now and loving it.Pontorqer the engine is out of a 70 Bonneville. 455 4 bolt with the 64 heads.I run a HEI in it and still has it's original Q-jet which now works like FI thanks to Cliffs carbs.Hillar there was nothing right about the first build.Rear main leaked,Main caps not aligned, spun 2 middle cam bearings, both head gaskets blown, bad head job.I was able to salvage the pistons, rods and crank.I won't mention the shop(astro) cause I have got over it and now just having fun.I hope all is well with you Hillar and hope to see you soon. Rory
What a coincidence ! I just bought one of these 70 Bonneville parts car with the high performance 455 XF and 64 heads. You wouldn't happen to know how many they built with that GTO 455 4 bolt mains ? My carb for my 1972 Pontiac Luxury Lemans Sport 400 is also getting rebuilt by Cliff, I can't wait to get it back, It has been 6 months already, he's a very busy man.
Hi Pontorquer.I do not know the production # of the Bonnevilles with 455HO,but do believe they made 4146 455 GTO's in 70.Fantastic engines to build from.Have a fairly mild roller cam that really winds up fast.Cliff is a great honest guy who also has a great knowledge of Pontiac motors.Turn around with my carb was 2 months.Don't really know what he did but sure changed the character of the carb, cannot recomend him enough.
Glad you finally got the engine issues worked out. I know exactly how you feel, I had much the same issues with my Camaro motor (97 Z28). The shop that gave me back a piece of garbage went out of business before I could do much about it, so I basically paid to have the engine rebuilt twice. Sucked large, but what you gonna do. Time heals everything though and it sounds like you are well on your way with amount of miles you are now putting on.
Who exactly is Cliff? Does he do just carbs or Pontiac motors as well?

Mark. You are fast. When's the invite to your place gonna happen?I'll even bring the food.
Hillar.Cliffs high performance Mount Vernon Ohio.I think he concentrates on Q jets,I am not sure.I remember you talking about getting some engine work done.Yeah it sucks, you are right, what you gonna do.Maybe Mark will invite us both up,not likely!
