RM Auction

So the RM auction is coming to Toronto soon, oct 24-26.
Anyone here going, to bid or look around?

How does it work, are the preview day and time mean the cars are oustide for everyone to look at? if you just want to look around do you have pay to get in.

You have to pay to get in, regardless of whether you just want to look around or bid.  The cars are all displayed inside, roughly in the order they will be auctioned off.  The more desireable highlighted vehicles will be in roped off sections closer to the auction stage.  Many vehicles are removed shortly after being auctioned, so if you want to see the maximum number of cars, it is probably best to go Friday evening.

The last time I went I think it was $10 per day, or you can get a weekend pass for $20 or $25.

Hi Todd I'm going Fri. afternoon, you should get a Dr.s note and come with us. I'm just a spectator, but can usually find some literature, or something that catches my eye.

Only interesting Canadian poncho on the list appears to be a 58 Parisienne, with a 348!

The one that has me going though is a 62 Caddy convertible (my favourite year) in Seafoam mist with a white top and guts.  I'd just love to add that example of the "Standard of the World" to my stable.  If the stock market recovers another 3,000 points by Friday, I may just have to consider it!wink

If that's the same one that was there in the spring it's a decent straight car. I checked it out pretty close, it was completely out of my price range but nice to dream! I had a 63 Eldorado convetible when I was a young lad and still love 'em.

Do you remember what it went for?  There is a 1950 Ford that I am curious about. Trying to get a rundown as to when the cars are going on the block.

Any chance you remember what the reserve was?  Or do you remember approximately what it was bid to?

You're right, it has been a while.  Camaro in 2000.  I'll work on it. I'll have to think of engine displacements that I don't own yet.  472 is one of them.

Sounds like most of you are thinking about going Friday night.  If I can make it, it would be Friday night as well.  Time for an informal Canadian Poncho summit meeting?smile

My bad, they were only up to 390 cubic engines in 62, oh well, I can rationalize it as economy car, as far as Cadillacs go.biggrin
