The 2nd place in that show was an old Carmen Ghia that I'd found in the backwoods for a friend, hauled to my house and sat in the backyard for a few years. My friend sold it to someone who had the means to restore it to it's glory.
beaumontguru, you've lost me somewhere. Engine humps, either side, right? I've changed every spark plug myself ...... and ....
Rochester, oh yes, I understand because I took apart and rebuilt the 4 barrel carb pretty much on my own. Don't ask me how.
First time I ever did anything remotely like that was my friend's 59 fin back Buick. Never have seen another one of those either. Stuck on the road with a bunch of friends. I had the smallest fingers and a bunch of chewing gum. Had everyone chewing gum like crazy and filled the little hole in the one float thingie so that the gas could get to where it was supposed to, heheheh .....
Got us the 40 miles home and never tackled another carbuerator until this one in 1983 when there was no one else to do it except me. My car and all, you know!
Is there somewhere else around here I should be asking these questions?
Hi jeaneh Very impressive with the amount of work you have done on your car by yourself. If you are looking for a place to ask questions specificly about Beaumonts there are 5 catagories from the main page. General Beaumont
If you are looking for parts you can post in the parts wanted
You should be able to find lots of help here from the "resident experts". If you are looking for the contact information for GM Canada Vintage Vehicle Services to find out more about your car click here
About the glass window. I have one.. with a new top actually, and it's the wrong one for my car. Mine is supposed to be black, and the one I have is white. It's still in the box. If your interested in it let me know.. if not here's the website to a company that sells them. http://www.bobschevelleparts.com/1964-1965-chevl-convertible-top-oem-w-glass-window.html I was tempted to keep the glass window, but was given some great advice about them that seems to make sense. You HAVE to zip them out when you put the top down. It's a pain in the @## to get the zipper done back up when you go to put the top up. You lose a lot of viewing area with the glass. It tends to be harder on the zipper due to the weight of it. So I've since opted for the original plastic window. hmm. I may have just talked you out of a sale.. LOL
once again.. AWESOME car. I may hit you up for more photo's for reference if that is ok with you.
Looking at your previous engine shot, they are camel hump heads. Indicating a 300 HP. the 250 HP only had the 896 witches hat heads. Looks like a rochester 4GC thou. I thought only the 250HP used the 4GC.
Any other menber coments on that.
Rare as Heck with a 300 HP 327. You should really get the GM docs from Vintage vihicle services. With all the GM cutbacks and current economy, who knows how long they will be providing this service.
Ok everybody, look out, I am about to challenge the guru!!!
I will state that I believe all 65 327s had the hump heads, 250 or 300 horse.
In 64, then I think only the 300 horse had them.
There you have it, conflict on Canadian Poncho, and two Manitobans disagreeing who only a couple of weeks ago spent the day together in the same auto wrecking!

It occurred to me this morning, it has to be a 250 horse. 300 horse always used a Carter, not a 4GC carb, correct?
Assuming you are correct then that means the extra 50 HP came from intake, carb and dual exhaust? Using the old add 15% for duals takes 250 to 288 HP alone.
That makes sence to me, it sure looks like a 250 HP with its 4gc, etc. but the camels confused me. 64 was witch hat on 250, camel on 300 and up for sure

Welcome from a fellow B.C.er. If don't know already, there are 2 Pontiac shows in June of every year. 1 in Surrey and the other in Kelowna. Both can be found at www.autoeventlist.com . It's a bit late for shows, but a good list to have if you live in the lower mainland. I find great local car info at these shows. Also there is the Chevelle club(Beaumonts too) www.chevelles.net that meet in Langley.

my 1967 Malibu 327/275 had camel hump heads for what its worth
I will stick my neck out and say all passenger car engines for 65, 66 and 67 had the hump heads. 64 could be power pack (283) style and there is a 68 327 2 bbl that has a different head as well. 69??? Not sure, but I don't think there is a 69 327 4 bbl so it likely has a plain head as well.

my 64 el camino 283 4bbl 220 hp had power pack heads, as for 65 66 67 with humps they would be 327 4 bbl correct ?
Nice SD, and I'm sure you wouldn't notice the difference between 250 and the 300 hp unless you are as crazy as me, sometime I think about putting my 283 back in, cheaper right now to drive our 86 vet. I think its something like 2-300 of my 64 were made, either way, most people don't know what it is, pitty them.
Sorry to hijack this thread. I will repost in the General Beaumont Discussion.

my years of collecting facts shows the 64 SD V8 convertibles(8867) as 366 prod. the 64 SD 6cyl convertibles(8767) are lower at only 128 prod.
As far as i know these figures are correct based on these model #s. Any conflicts to this?
I have the 65 6 cyl (73767) listed with the same production number as you have listed for the 64. ?? Anyone have paperwork on their car that can verify 64 and 65. I also have 65 8 cyl (73867) listed as 274.
Nice ride, but I don't care what the motor is. These cars are rare enough that if you have one your lucky. I have three sd rags, one driving, one 3 monthes from being done, and one off of the frame. I have seen this car years ago and it's good to see it's still alive. Love the colors, it matches my 65 Beaumont sd 4spd.
