69 Grande Parisienne 427

Described by owner as being an original 427 GP currently with a 454. Quite rare though. Looks pretty solid.

i would like to see it go to someone that will restore it, is the price in-line or too much? thinking of seperating the engine and selling the car separatly

I'm not sure how qualified I am to answer, but a couple of thoughts-

Is the car solid, rust free? i.e. floors, frame, quarters doors and fenders

Separating it may be a bood idea, but what values would you put on the engine/body?

Also a comment. You are likely aware that the Pontiacs do not normally bring the dollars that their cousins (Chevrolets) do. I have no idea why, because I think the Pontiacs look nicer, plus they are so unique being Canadian only. Add to that the rarity of your car being a 427 car and although it's missing the numbers matching engine, it's gotta be worth something to a Pontiac collector.

Sadly, if it was a 69 Impala SS 427 it would likely long have sold.

If it had the original 427, $8500 would be a very good price imop for that car. Kind of middling with out it though.

the 427 blew up in the 70's when my uncle had the car. car is solid, don't think it has seen a winter in at least 20 years. guess if the car isn't worth much without the original motor i might sell the engine in there sep.

If you have a lot of money in the motor as described in your ad it may not be a bad idea. Sometimes you can pick up a good running 454 for a good price, swap it, drop the price and keep the good motor or sell it separately.

Let us know what you want for the car without the motor if you decide to go that route.

If you can't get 3 grand for a solid 69 Grande Parisienne 427 body from a 69 B body fan, there's something wrong with this picture!

That is a very fair price I would say. Think what it costs to repair a rusty car.

OK guys how do we make this work for 69-454 Poncho. I have thought long and hard about buying it myself but as much as I want to see it preserved, it not the project I want to add to my list of things that need to be done. For me the main issues are that it is not presentable "as is" or a 67.
I will do whatever I can to help preserve the car rather than see it become a set of parts.
If anyone is interested or wants some help to make this work, I have some motivation and resources to help.

Rick

What a great offer Rick.
If the car is going without a motor how much is staying with the car (rad, trans, etc.) and would it be feesible to drop in another motor. Even a small block. Like 67BBSD says, shipping a non runner kills it. It would likely add ~$1000 to the price to drop in a running SB. Would it be worthwhile then?

..........it all comes back to my NPO idea to preserve and restore these Canadian histiorical and cultural assets. The Avro Arrow replica was built to honour a Canadian what if by a not-for-profit, but here we have a Canadian that was that is begging to be put back to it's former glory.

Let's do the math, 600 members say $50 per year dues, that's $30,000 then add in fundraisng. We could collectively save a distinctly Canadian Pontiac car per year. Instead of talking, I'll do some leg work on this and see what can be done to incorporate a NPO. smile
