Big Block Beaumonts?

Does anyone know how many big block Beaumonts were built. I know there were 702 68 SD hardtops and 66 68 SD convertibles. How many 66 and 67 SDs had big blocks? How many 69 SDs were built? I would think that there were around 1200 to 1400 built.

Because the 66 did not designate with the VIN there are no "real" numbers out there, only speculation for them. You can only count the number of Sport Deluxe cars made. This goes the same for the 67's until they switched to the 738 VIN.
My guess would be closer to 1800 big block cars. 738 VIN 67's, 68 & 69 BB cars is almost 1400.
The GM document for my car is in the Members Rides section.

Thanks for the response Brad. When did the 67s start with the 738 VINs? Are there numbers on how many 1967 738 cars were built? How many 67 SDs were built proir to the 738 VINs? I seem to remember reading that there were 451 1967 SDs built. Is that the total for the year? How many 66 SDs were built? I know I'm asking a lot of questions but inquiring minds want to know.

Hi James
67BBSD or numbersguy may have a closer date for the switch to the 738 VIN. November or December 1966 is approximately when the change occurred. The number you have for 1967 738 VIN cars is correct according to all the paperwork I have seen. For 1966 hardtops and convertibles with the L34 is 244.
If anyone wants to send me a PM with their numbers I can check it against what I have.

Thanks Brad. I would think that since GM of Canada has the info on all the Beaumonts built, it would be easy to break down of the car info kind of like the Marti Report that you can get for the Fords. It would be time consuming but doable.

I think it could be done as well but the guys at VVS won't do it and they won't let anyone else come in and do it either. They have had offers from people that would come in and do it for free. They must think there is no money in it for them so they are not interested.

Re: the 738 SD cars in 67-

There was a discussion on here a while back about them and it was determined that by Dec 13th the change had been made. Not sure if anyone had posted an earlier 738 car.

It may have been Carl but I have a hard time finding some old posts. They seem to get off topic which makes information really hard to find. Thanks for posting the info again.

Can you give us the information off the cowl tag, or better yet, post a picture of the tag?
