Let face it, the car would be a gas to drive but spending $16,000 on a performance car I don't think I would want everybody thinking I bought a Grand Am, but that's yesterday's news.

Windsor is one of the few places in Canada where the USA is actually due North smile

Although a Holden Monaro fan (which is what these GTO's really are) it's the '69 GTS 327 and 350 Bathurst I dream about..
If shipping from Oz or S. Africa was free, I'd be all over one...or my wet dream car, the factory DZ 302/Muncie powered Firenza!!!

I have driven one of those and they are an absolute blast.  The interior is fantastic too, one of the best I have ever been in but you are right, most people would think you were driving an oversized Grand Am.  I looked into getting one of these this past summer after they relaxed the bumper standards and before the loonie crashed.  There were LOTS available within a 500 mile drive of TO, most priced about the $15K range.  The one to get is the 06, which had the most improvements, followed by the 05, when they upgraded to the LS2 motor and added the factory hood scoops as an option.  The 04 is the least desireable of the three years.  Most of those were going for about $12K.  I think they will continue to fall in price for the foreseeable future, they are sort of an orphan car.  Also, because of the gas tank relocation to meet US specs, these cars have tiny trunks so not very practical.  When they get down to Ray Cadillac range price, I may pick one up.wink

Yeah, like nice auction that doesn't exist Big Ray!  You'll have to do better than that with your photoshop skills!  For everyone's benefit, item 190259987799 is actually a LCD screen protector for an Apple MacBook on ebay.uk. spammer.gifThey're not giving away GTOs for next to nothing like Cadillac owners have to do who have no other option. nana.gif

The side view picture looks like a Cadillac Catera in a 2 door. Opel aren't they?

They're Holden from down under. That's different than Opel isn't it?

You should have know better than to mention Cadillac. Catera and GTO are pretty much the same basic car even though one is GM Germany and one is GM Australia. Lots of guys doing GTO V8 engine swaps into Catera's.

Do you know if the Camaro /Trans Am LT1 powertrain fits? It's different than the GTO ?
I know where there is a cheap Catera, Oh Oh, time to forget about it!

The Monaro/GTO never used an LT1 drivetrain, they did use LSx drivetrains.  I suppose you could make an LT1 fit as they are roughly the same size from a physical perspective, but you would probably have to custom fabricate engine mounts, wiring harness, etc. and who knows about oil pan clearance, whereas all that stuff pre-exists for an LSx swap which definitely will fit, so probably not worth the effort.
