    Sorry about that. Had 65 on the brain for some reason. The 6th digit is the model year.
    Here the breakdown:
    715     Acadian Canso 6 cylinder
    37       Two door hardtop
    7         Model year
    1         Oshawa
    1????? Build sequence number

    Yes, 67 is the first year for the first digit not being the year. At least, based on what I've seen.

    1962 - 1966 Acadian VIN first digit is the model year. As Carl said, 1967 was the first year for the change.

    More useless info:
    1962-64 10 digit VIN
    1965-66 12 digit VIN
    1967 up  13 digit VIN

    Interesting. I was just browsing Novas on ebay , and I noticed a 65 SS VIN tag. It reads 117375 for the first 6 digits. 117 is a Nova SS, 37 is 2 dr ht and 5 is the year.

    The U.S. VINs switched to the 6th digit indicating the model year before the Canadians switched. I had never noticed that before.

    You appear to have a

    6=1966
    718= V8 Sport Deluxe
    37= 2 dr ht
    008143= number 8143 built

    Fred will guess better but I am thinking your car was made summer of 66

    Can you post the numbers off the cowl tag on the firewall?

    That will give even more info about your car.

    Welcome here!

    6 = 1966
    715 = Canso 6 cylinder
    37 = 2 door hardtop
    0 = Oshawa plant (that is a letter "O", not a zero)
    04282 = sequential serial number

    If you would like to post a picture of your cowl tag (on the firewall) we can tell you more about your Acadian from that.

    Welcome here, by the way!
