Very neat to see those original ads.

GM was pitching the smaller Tempest, Skylark and F85 plus the corvair back then too  What was going on in teh economy or market that prompted them to try this market segmnent in the early 60's when most if not all of us equate that period to huge highway cruisers with big V8's ?

Canadians have always been cheaper!  Plus, the Falcon and it's Canadian derivative, the Frontenac, has been selling well.   Tempest, Skylark and F85 were not widely available in Canada at that time and more expensive.

I think we can say without a doubt that American's rejected the small sized Tempest, Skylark and F85, so do you really think it comes down to lower incomes and being cheap?

Yup.  What has been the best selling vehicle in Canada the last decade or so?  The Honda Civic or the Toyota Corolla whereas in the US it has been the F-150 pick-up or some other higher dollar vehicle, certainly not an economy sub-compact.  And you should know this, Caddy sales in the US are probably 20-30  times what they are in Canada for any given year.  As you will see in a couple of weeks down in Florida, the Caddys will be everywhere!

It's not the lower incomes. IMHO
