Is there really 144 L79 Acadians? I had always heard the number was well under a hundred.

Hopefully Fred will see this and add that in red.

My Nebraska friend has a 66 SD 71737. He cloned it to an L79 but I know he will like to know how many were made.

Thanks.

The number of L79 Acadians made in 1966 was 63. The total number of Acadian SD's in '66 was 552, I was led to believe.

I have a 64 Acadian Beaumont custom wagon model #8535 and I have the GM Canada documents showing production of 251 of these 8 cyl, 4 door, 6 seat wagons.  Not sure WHO is tracking this info but I have attached my documentation here for that tracking sheet.  Also I am wondering if any one has ever approached GM Canada and asked if they could supply to total production numbers for all the Acadian/Beaumont models from 1962 thru 1971?

Thanks very much for putting another piece in the puzzle Sandy. I added it in.

I will move this over to the Beaumont registry. Very confusing but this thread is the Acadian Canso/Invader production thread.

yes, this whole site is confusing.  to me, all the Acadian and Beaumont stuff should be together but the Acadian is in with the Ventura?

64 is the worst year for confusion. They started the Beaumonts that year (the A body, Chevelle style Beaumonts) but tagged them as Acadians.

Starting in 62, Acadians (Nova style) same into being and had the Acadian name on them right through 71. Fortunately, after 65 Beaumonts were no longer tagged with the Acadian name.

Don't worry about being confused, everyone is with the early Acadians...

Acadian was initially just the Chevy II equivalent but then for 1964 expanded to include the A-body Chevelle-based Beaumont series (Beaumont prior to that had been the high level trim Acadian). For 1966 the Acadian name was no longer used on the Beaumonts.

Beaumonts bowed out after 1969 (they ran through 1971 in Chile) and the Acadians were dropped mid-production 71 when the Pontiac Ventura II was introduced. The first actual Pontiac Acadian was the 1976 Chevette-based Acadian that was exclusive to Canada until the Pontiac T-1000 was introduced for 1982 in the U.S.

I am not confused about Acadians & Beaumonts and their name changes, models etc: I am confused about how this site is set up!

 O.K. gotcha!

Oh, welcome to Canadianponcho BTW. I grew up in the Hamilton area (Ancaster actually)

We'd love to see that '64 wagon of yours. I can't remember the last time I saw a '64 Beaumont wagon. Judging by the production totals and the attrition over time in the rust belt, you have got a really rare one today.

Well we get out and about quite a bit with this wagon, just got back from the Atlantic Nationals in it, 2,557 miles round trip. (went to Maine too)  We have 6 classics on the road and a couple of HD's so you'll never know what we will show up in.  We actually live just north of Carlisle in Mountsberg, hubby has lived here all his life (Waterdown) & I moved to Waterdown in '72.  Small world!
