Very cool. For those who don't know, that car is Canadian only, I'm pretty sure because it's a 300. If I have my stuff right, it is one of 99 convert 300 cars with a V8. Fake68 on here will confirm it if he reads this.

looks like a "better deal" than the 67 SD 396 junker in N.S. 1OF 66... IT is a better deal, because it can be bought...

This is at least the 3rd time this car has been listed. I am not sure if the guy is too high on his price or there is just no demand. Yes there are very few made but rarity does not always mean big money. I'd take a SS396 convertible that is much much more common.

One of 96 same model number 13267 "300" convertible.
Mine was a 283 Glide...

Someday if I live long enough it will be a "what if" ss 427 with power everything.

I sarted end gapping the piston rings yesterday.... one bite at a time.

That would be 19 1/2 years ago since you began that project Mr Anderson.yawnyawnyawn I know you don't have any "before" pictures because when you bought it the camera had not been invented yet.....

I do have some photos on a disc at work...

19-1/2 years wow... as I recall I crashed my Nova the summer after I bought the rag and that turned into a five year resto-mod.

Come to think of it the Nova has been painted twice since then... and rebuilt a truck in there somewhere too. Oh well..... priorities.

Fake 68 asked me to post some pics of his 67 300 (soon to be a Fake 67!)

You will quickly realize what a sick individual he is to take a car this far apart....

I'm not sure that one is exactly "saved" just yet. It looks like he still has a little bit of work to do.....

holy poop!   What was wrong with the firewall???

I hope you are leaving it as a 300.  I've seen far too many 300 rags turned into Malibus.

Thats great to see the work getting done.

Firewall had previous crash damage around the column and forward portion of the cowl/door hinge area. As I was adding AC anyway I split the seams and replaced the firewall rather than mud it up.

Unfortunately for the purists, it will not be a 300... it will be a what if "SS427" complete with "real" 69 Canadian Pontiac 427 power courtesy of Carl the Canadian Pontiac dismantler. I can't believe he's allowed to be a member here after all the Canadian Poncho big blocks he's shredded (hee hee).

Engine was close to a goner after mice got into it while in storage. I've been scraping out rust scale for days. The 396 beside it was untouched.

Should be painted by spring but another year at least for wiring and assy still. Time flies.

Sorry Dave, I'm the one that sold him the car without a "leave it as a 300" clause in the contract!

He ruined my trivia question in his last post. I was gonna see if anybody could spot the difference (now has an a/c firewall)

Here is some up to date progress shots.

Those are great photos! Sure am looking forward to seeing the final product. What a mountain to climb..... No wonder it is taking 20 years. Glad there are guys out there like Gary who are willing to put life back into a really cool car.

I should note... I have also had a mountain of help from friends to get this far. Carl Stevenson and John Nelson have helped with many parts and tech questions and Steve Mikkelsen is responsible for the paint work (and "managing" the operations... inside joke).

There have been many others involved as well draggin this thing all over H*** to get different things accomplished.

Right now it's engine assembly and then back on the finish bodywork and paint prep. If it wasn't a hobby it would be INSANITY.

What he really means by that is some parts have left here for his house and in return he has helped a lot to finance my bad old car habit.

And yes, the work looks even nicer in person than it does in the pictures. Engineers can be SO ANAL about stuff  rofl.gif
