With the debut of the new Camaro (if GM doesn't tank) don't you think they would be looking at making a T/A a reality? I know the corporate outlook is doom & gloom, if the platform is tooled up, maximize it to full potential. After all, isn't Pontiac the Excitement division now? The Mustang is a good sales model for Ford, Dodge is getting lots of hype about the Challenger, and the Trans Am is the last of the muscle pony cars? So, the question is would anyone buy one if it had the same powertrain as the the new Camaro?
If they built a very limited edition as well as the mass produced models, yes I would definately be interested. I have been wondering why they haven't made a new Firebird or T/A. The LS engine is such a huge selling feature for the performance minded guys out there. It would be nice to have a Pontiac alternative other than the G8 for performance. Mind you, I have no trouble owning 4dr performance cars!
If money was no object, we would buy one. However, it is hard to justify yet another toy around here and 2 1/4 miles of gravel every time we come and go here just wouldn't be the right thing to do to a car like that.

Cool concept car. I think there is more interest in the Camaro but there are pics out there. You tube T/A
I didn't check out youtube but I assume the white one with twin stripes is there too? That one is my favorite drawing. I would have trouble resisting one like that, but the banker would be a big help in me fighting the urge...

I think that was a private individual who drew his versions of the new F car. Seems to me I read GM had no interest in doing it as a Pontiac. Sad........

Trans Am looks pretty good as a concept. I'd like to see a version like mine. Talking of the Challengers, i saw one cruising around yesterday, and two today. I'd be putting mine away for the winter, but that's just me...more brains than money.
I also think the G8 should be sold here as the 2+2.
That sounds way better than G8. Send an e-mail to Pontiac, but don't take any post-dated cheques!
I tried that before, made a post about it too, the VP marketing genius in Oshawa will only send back an insulting reply. He knows more about marketing than all car guys put together, and he's going down with the good ship GM Canada to prove it!
Guys, there ain't never gonna be another Firebird (at least on the same platform as the Camaro) let alone another T/A. I am on a number of 4th gen f body boards as well as belonging to a few f body clubs and this matter has been extensively discussed with senior production people at GM including Scott Settlemire who was the last brand manager for the 4th generation Camaro/Firebird. It is just too expensive to have brand engineering any more. This is precisely one of the biggest problems GM has that everyone is bringing up now in the current crisis. If Pontiac is to survive, it will be on the basis of other models unique to the Pontiac brand, not a re-skinned Chevy. Those days are over. Even in the best of times, the Firebird was lucky to approach 50% of the sales of the Camaro, with the possible exception of a couple of years in the late 70's when the Bandit cars came out. And back then, Pontiac still had its own distinct powertrains. Throughout the 3rd and 4th gens, Firebird sales as a percentage of over all f body sales fell each year. There were some noticeable stand-outs, like the 20th anniversary which borrowed its engine from the Grand National, but there is just no economic case for a separate Firebird any more. Sorry fellow Poncho enthusiasts, that's the truth and the truth often hurts.

That Chevelle looks kinda funny to me. The back shot reminds me of the late 60's Cuda with the way the back glass comes down. As for the GTO.....I like it, but unless it comes out as a truck or 7 seater....I have to pass on it. Like Astro-Jet was saying: The Firebird and GTO are a thing of the past and likely never see the light of day again.
