HELLO`I WANT TO PAINT MY 64 BEAUMONT THE COLOUR IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY WITH.I LOOKED ON THE COWL TAG FOR THE PAINT CODE AND IT`S "T" WOULD ANYBODY KNOW THIS COLOUR OR EVEN BETTER A COLOUR THAT I CAN SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE.THANKS.
here is the trim #970 on the cowl tag,it`s more like cream colour on the door panels, headliner, tan carpet ,cream and tan two tone steering wheel, and a mix of cream and tan on the fabric inserts of the seats.it`s a beaumont custom series.thanks
I remember seeing a 1964 Beaumont Sport Deluxe in eastern Toronto back in 1990. It was Desert Beige with Fawn interior (which matched the exterior). In my opinion the Desert Beige colour with the Fawn interior was a little milquetoast for that car. Saddle interior is definitely darker, although I would hesitate to call it p** brown, more of a saddle colour (hence the name, ).
BTW that '64 Sport Deluxe was in great shape and looked all original. It was equipped with the chrome accented 155-horse 230 six and a console-shifted Powerglide. It had the nice wheelcovers with the spinners that are like the ones often seen on '64 GTOs. Now for the bad news, the guy was driving it on slushy, salty roads in January The trouble with that is that you have old paint with possible weaknesses and stone chips that leave the car vulnerable. Never having been exposed to salt I'll bet the car literally rusted through within 2 years (I've seen it happen too many times to nice old cars). I saw a nice 1957 Laurentian 4-door hardtop being winter driven on the 401 in western Toronto back in 1986. Why do people still do dumb things like that?

One think about that paint chip chart, they don't always scan accurately when they are metallic paint and many times do not reflect the colour accurately. On that chart the Saddle Tan does not look like the real thing. Check out this link for a closer representation: http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2_itemId=23618&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 In person it is a little richer in tone. Having seen a number of original '64s in Saddle Tan over the years (especially an Impala SS & a Strato Chief for $625 I nearly bought in 1980) I'd have to say it is rust colour.

Yup, that is 1964 FAWN alright. Just the same as my old 64 beaumont Custom Sedan was

I had to have it when I saw it! A friend of mine told me about the sign a while back and then I happened to find the picture online one day.
Those chip charts are a bit general alright. I have found a few chipped areas on my 67 Nova that is now painted the wrong color. The original paint color is showing through in the chipped areas and the chart is similar but sure not the same as the original. The areas that I found original are in jams that shouldn't have faded from the elements over the years so I am more inclined to think the jams are more accurate than a scan on the computer.
