1986 Porsche 928s for sale $5900 price drop again!

This is a California car I bought out of the high desert close to the Utah border. It has no rust. The chassis & floor pans look like new. It is the V8 5.0 L 4 valve engine with no top speed limiter that runs very smooth.
These cars were good for 172 mph, a world record holder in '86 as the fastest production car. It  is automatic O/D. Original Meteor Metallic(grey) paint is faded and needs to be refinished. The interior is dark red Porsche signature embroidered seats with leather trim in very nice condition, and leather headliner.  I have replaced most of the interior due to sunfade including dash pad & door panels. Some of it still needs to be put in.
Car also has front & rear Air conditioning that works. It will need a recharge now as it has been sitting most of the last year. Mechanically very good, timing belt & water pump replaced in the last 1000 miles. New Devck aluminum rad. Stainless steel exhaust. Car has 128,000 miles. It does need some work to finish it up, but can be driven as it sits. Realistically priced @ $5900. May trade for solid decent Pontiac, Beaumont, or ???
PM me or e-mail eeluddy@sympatico.ca
Thanks

RE: 1986 Porsche 928s for sale $7500 or trade??

I have seen this car, and it is a very nice unusual V8 car    It, like most things, in the economy today, is priced at 1/2 price... idea I approve the sale of this car!!

Hi Todd. Time to liquidate a few. I want to keep this car on one hand, but i haven't got the time or place to do it. So I don't want to see it sit for another year. Trade for a 69 Laurentian?confused

Hey Carl. There is a couple of them done with big blocks and also SBC's. The original engines did suffer from poor cooling (hence the $1000 Deveck aluminum rad) and costly service. So if you didn't change the timing belt, SOL! With aftermarket parts and internet accessability it's now affordable to keep these cars going. I remember in '89 a friend had one he didn't look after. The engine rebuild was over $9000 back then. Now you can get a decent engine complete off eBay for $2500. Unbelievable  steering & handling on 928's.

I always liked the 928. Back in the late 80's I worked for a used car dealer and we had one a '84 come in with 26,000 miles on it. I took it home for the long weekend and had a blast. I had a few friends of mine out for a ride. Earl is right, these cars are seriously fast. I had this one at 140+. I remember going south out of Mt. Forest and my buddy looked over at the speedo and remarked that it felt like we were going faster than 60. I had the car in 2nd gear and he thought the speedo was in kph.
Watch the power door locks on this car. The 84 had a rotary knob that you turned to lock the doors. I left the keys sitting on the console and I hit the knob getting out. Doors locked, keys in the car and no spares. Fortunately I left the sunroof open enough to get a coat hanger in and lift the keys out.
For a short weekend I had a lot of fun. Great memories go along with that car for me. The girls loved it to. It must have been the Tom Cruise influence.
