70 GTO sill plates still available

As a parts man, I often hear guys talk about buying repro stuff. Don't give up on your GM parts guys. They may still be able to get it. I am just writing a bill to a restoration shop for the carpet sill plates for a 70 GTO. You'd be surprised what is still available. Last week (thanks to Fake68) I realized that the shifter boot was still available for a 68-72 Chevelle with a 4 speed.

Check your parts needs out with a GM parts guy who is willing to do old stuff, you may be pleasantly surprised!!!

The sill plates that GM currently sells don't have the rivits in the GM tag. There is a guy on Ebay that sells a lot of what he calls GM NOS parts. Most of what he sells are parts that are still available but he doesn'r mention that in his auctions.

Thanks Al

the term 'NOS' gets used like a two bit hooker on ebay.

I know of a guy that was selling a set in the summer time. I don't know if he sold them or not. Daily driver, but those guys that redo rims could have them up to show. Let me know and I'll get ahold of him.

I still get dealer parts for my GTO. The last parts I got were the water tubes that go from the water pump divider into the engine.

There are quite a few of these people on ebay.
The new GM 4 speed boots come in GM wrapper but they are nothing like the ones from the late 60's and early 70's. I have a few early ones in the paper wrapper and there is a big difference.

Hillar and Carl-

I believe the part number of the boot I ordered for Fake68 was 3975405. I think the friendly price on it was around $34 or something like that. Seems to me this was the boot for bench seat cars.

Also he told me about the 70 to 81 Camaro 4 speed boot that was about $20 I think. I don't know that number offhand.

Al-

7753966 right and 7753967 left is supposed to be correct for 69 t0 72 G and A bodies so you should be good on those. I think friendly price on them was around $78 each but I can't say for sure.

Pascal-

I think Luc has checked on those pieces and they were either not available or absolutely ridiculous in price and he said no way would he order them.

DISCLAIMER!!!!

These guys who have stated that the above parts may not be identical to original have seen them and would know what they are talking about. I have had no chance to do comparisons. Order at your own risk!!!
