hi i have a 1958 stratro chief 2dr sedan, will the door handles from a 1957 fit on a 1958. if not how come. because they both look the same to me. i've only seen them on ebay for sale so i haven't had them in my hands to compare them. thanks Rick
The GM Parts book shows: '55-'57-#4156544 (right) and #4156545 (left) In '58: #4237768 and#4237769 for models 31, 41, 49, 71 and 91. For models 39, 47, 67 and 93, #4237772 and #4237773. But, if you had them in your hands, who knows??? They may fit and look alike.......!
thanks the only reason i'm asking is because the 1958 door handles cost $125.00, and the 1957 cost $51.00. i don't want to buy them if they won't fit. anyone else can help! Thanks
They do not fit. There is even a difference in door handles between sedans and the coupes and convertibles for 55-57. you better keep on looking at swap meets and ebay for the correct 58 door handles.
