If you notice the sponser on the Astra ,Performance Enginering Limited they were the guys that built the Pontiac engine for the car. I had them do some head work way back in 1973 on one of the first set of off road Chevy slant plug 292 castings heads. When I brought them to the shop they tried to offer me a fully polished and ported set of heads they had in stock. Mine had the heat riser blocked off from GM and theirs were an earlier casting with the heat riser open. I also had a set of connecting rods with no wrist pin holes drilled and a larger nut and bolt for the connecting rod cap. The guys in the shop were amazed I had these parts, I just told them we had a parts manager that really liked performance cars and kept up to date on everything new GM was selling over the counter. He got us all copies of the Ist edition of the Chevrolet high performance parts book and manual. That .030 350 made 530hp at 6200 rpm.
Couple more shots of Bert's car's. I understand the Gremlin is still running in this area??? tubbed etc.
I'll dig out some Astre shots and post them later.
