London Police Biscayne. 1970. Is that a "400" engine callout on the fender?

From Halifax Public Archives:

100 ft., King Seagrave Aerial
Retrieval code: 102-111-4-7.95 to 102-111-4-7.96
1966

I recall as a kid seeing this one or one like it ripping through the city with the fireman on back steering madly to get through traffic.  He was my hero.

That 1919 vehicle would be a hairy ride in inclement east coast weather!

Yup.  Driving a "convertible" with bald tires in a blizzard in order to go into a burning building with an axe and a hose with minimal water pressure...

These were real tough guys.  Nothing like the tattooed-up wannabes strutting around today!  lol

Thanks for posting, Todd.

Arghh... I can't say enough how much I wish I could just walk into a dealership and buy a 'new' one of these now... even at today's prices.  Gawd!

The main London public library  located downtown has an area called The London Room. If you go in there they have all the past issues of the London Free Press on Microfiche. The Microfiche readers allow you to print individual pages. When I had my Laurentian I went there and printed off a bunch of cool 69 Pontiac ads from local dealers. You find LMP ads from that era for sure.

I was reading an article about Janet Guthrie (First female NASCAR driver) and came across this photo from back in the 70's. Besides the 3 drivers, does anyone recognize anyone else? I see modern day actor/comedian John C Reilly with his hands on the fence...

The Internet Checker Taxi Association seems to believe that no Parmelee Checkers six-door limousine versions of the A5 exist to this day

The identical twin to that 4 door hardtop Star Chief is in the little town where I work. Totally original car, really nice shape. I just saw him driving it yesterday, hadn't seen it out this year yet. Gorgeous car.
