I'm surprised at how high that Strato sits. I get the feeling those tires are add on's. They look very tall. Could you get a wide WW like that factory?

Yes, they are original from the factory. Firestone 500 4 ply wide whitewall tires. Same as the factory original spare in the trunk of my 1959 Parisienne. 1961 was the last year for wide whites from the factory.

I love the pie crust pattern on that tire.

I took these a few summer's ago. See anything unusual about this '70 Malibu convertible? Beside the 6-slot Rally Wheels I mean.

Yes. I was not expecting it when I peered into that Chevelle. The clutch & brake pedals aren't level with each other, so most likely power brakes. I can't remember if they were disks or drums.

The 4 door 66 has the correct tailpipe for a dual exhaust setup, so likely a 327 or a big block. I know a number of people in Winkler (about 40 minutes from here) including one of our technicians at work. I'm going to see if he remembers because he would have been just getting his licence when they got that 66.

I don't know how to tell engine size on the post car by the exhaust system. Anyone?

In the early 60's a 283 and a 327-250 had the tail pipe just behind the rear wheel with the 327 having duals.

A 327-300 had the dual tail pipes extended to the corner just below the bumpers.

If I was sitting at a light in the curb lane and a Chev or a Canadian Pontiac was in the other lane and I could see a tail

pipe on the passenger side I knew it was a 'machine' (we called hot cars machines).

However the 409 cars all had duals exiting just behind the rear wheels, but you just had to roll down your window to HEAR the 409.

convertible boot is not correct. Snaps were never used on "A" Body cars. Plastic clips 64-67 and plastic slider 68-72. But still a nice car.

The snow pics are cool, Mark.  When you get used to seeing pampered antiques at car shows, sometimes it's easy to forget the conditions these old cars lived through - doesn't look like the plow has come through yet, but they are trundling along like it was nothing.  And nowadays we think we need 4 wheel drive to get through stuff like this.

Certainly agree with the comment about how pampered we expect to be nowadays. Driving on streets, like in the picture, were a normal occurance in Northern Ontario.

The 66 may have a 327 w/single exhaust, would have a resonator/tail pipe exiting at left rear bumper .
