Oshawa built 1971 A-body's (Lemans,T-37 or Lemans Sports) with 455 HO

Hi fellow Pontiac fans I was wondering if any members here had any information regarding Oshawa built 1971 A-body's (Lemans,T-37 or Lemans Sports) with 455 H/O. I own a Oshawa built 1971 Lemans Sport with the 455HO and have only seen two others built in Oshawa and both were T-37's

I had the remnants of a 72 H/O 4 speed years ago. It had the Endura nose, bench seat 4 speed, factory tach. The car was VERY rough, engine gone.

You are familiar with Dan Jensen from Michigan? He's the H/O guru. I'm not sure how much he knows about the Canadian cars though.

Sorry, no. I don't remember where it was built. I never thought of that. At that time I was more into B bodies and Acadians. I knew it was rare, but I stripped it and crushed it. I talked to Dan about it briefly at one of the POCI meets and he seemed very uninterested in hearing about it. That seemed strange to me because I know it was a very unusual car.

There used to be a T37 here in town-I got the M22 out of it for my Camaro at the time-someone converted the car to a BB Chev ! its still around somewhere. There was also one in Toronto (T37) a few years back for sale it was from down here too-Pete Fedun's race car when it was new.

I just read in the GTO Restoration guide that at least in 1970 the 455 cars supposedly got the heavy duty frame option ala boxed convertible frame. I have to check the Orbit orange car that I posted for that as it also has a 12 bolt rear too which is supposed to be 455 cars only as well. Jack

You better believe it! I love the 68-72 cars. For that matter, pretty much any year GTO and Lemans but the round port cars are sure neat especially.

If the blue one is your car, I love it. Looks like 2 door post?? or are my eyes deceiving me? Post sedan is my favorite body style in this car.

I have a 1972 LeMans Sport that I purchased in July '07. It has a 300 horse 400, M-20 4 speed and a 3.55 12 bolt rear. Right now it has a '70 455 370 horse motor in it. It was an Oshawa built car and was owned by a GM exec. I have the orig. 400 and I will be putting it back in the car after it has been rebuilt.
Does anyone know how to post pics on this site? I don't see anywhere to do that.

Is your '72 Lemans Sport red with a black vinyl top? It was silver originally? It sounds like it was Keith's car.

My neighbor used to have a really nice, stripped down '72 Lemans GT hardtop (base level) with very little in the way of options. Few options except for a 400 4-barrel, Hurst shifted M20 4-speed, 3.55 Safe-T-Track plus an AM radio. It had manual steering and brakes, plus most of the original factory exhaust system (the GTO duals with factory side split tips). He bought it from the original owner in 1989. Bought new in November 1971 it was put into winter storage almost right away (like it has been every year since). It had original paint, a spare set of GT stripes from new, the cloth seats were upholstered over with vinyl covers when new. It was sold new in Toronto but the car was built in Pontiac, Michigan.

I'm not 100% on this but I believe at that time all Lemans convertibles came from only one plant, in Pontiac, Michigan.

Yes, it was Keith's car. I finished it off with the rocker moldings and the emblems. It's been a great car!
