Hello fellow car entusiasts.im from Mo i Rana in Norway.Just 100 kilometers south of the arctic circle.I havent got any Canadian ponhcos,but a 76 Chevelle that see a lot of the local race track,and a 93 Silverado in daily use.
Have always been interested in rare cars,and the canadian cars seem to qualify in that.
There is a 77 parisienne here in town.I t was a year old when it came here.Dont know how.Seems like a lot of the canadian cars came here when someone moved home.I have folks in Toronto myself.They are called Gilbertson.
I will try to visit them in a vacation in one of the coming years.
This summer i found this parisienne in sweden.
Surprisingly free of rust.The rust that is there,is only in top of the paint.It came from South Africa some years ago.327 and powerglide.It had plastic on the door sides when it arrived there,so it is verey nice inside.
This site seem endless in great photos and cars,so i will come by and look now and then.
Yes, welcome to the site!!! A pic of the engine bay would be nice to see and more importantly the right hand drive setup!! Always wondered why a Canadian Pontiac sent overseas in the RHD setup usually if not always has the American wiper setup? I am sure the conventional setup would be more than sufficient to clear the windshield even in the RHD conversion! Is it goverment law that requires this??
I was there on vacation in 99,and actually found a scrapyard with a lot of old pontiacs and other canada cars.But unfortunately,i didnt have the camera with me,so no pics from that yard...
Too bad.There were Buicks there too with some name i dont remember.They were RHD cars all of them.

I dont know.All cars here in scandinavia,are Lhd.So this Parisienne that has been imported from South Africa can be used here.
I have never laid eyes on that.it was just now that you wrote about it,i recognized it.Maybe there was some interference with the steering mechanism that made it this way?

I had never noticed that before! Good eye...
I always thought our Pontiacs looked more modern with our style of wipers. The US style looks like something from the 50's!
Anybody notice the maroon one is a sedan? The RHD cars always seem to be 4 door hardtops, but not this time.

Welcome to the site! well posted pictures.. Why are all the cars 4 doors? By the looks of the rims (widened) the Chevelle is raced on circle track?
The 4door thing...well,i guess they are more common.And when new,they were used as company cars and such.Remember that american cars have been expensive over here.And a lot of them were bought by wealthy persons or companys.Gas is expensive too,so it cost alot to drive them compared to volvos and such.
The chevelle are used on the race track.A lot.Widened rallye wheels.10 inches in front,and 13 inches rear.

You can have a Kia or a Cadillac.A Vw Bug or a Road Runner.Or no car at all.A really cool site witout the trash talk and downlookin that many sites have.I really like to hang around there.

Thanks for that. It's neat to see how other guys do it. I imagine it's many times harder for you to build your cars than it is here.
Well.there arent many parts cars.Almost all the cars here stay together.There arent many older cars that are gettin scrapped these days.But we have scrap yards specialicing in american cars.A lot of the parts come from US.New and used.
So there may be more expensive to run this hobby over here.
It's amazing how rust free all of the cars appear to be. I guess you do not use salt on the roads in winter?
That track you are racing at appears to be at the bottom of an old open pit mine - correct?
There are salt on the roads here too,but more of it in the big cities.There are a lot of good and bad craftmanship thats being done to preserve the cars.In the seventies and eighties,there was lots of bondo and stuff done,but in the last 20 years a lot of good graftmanship are being done.it really helps that goodmark and other companys produce sheetmetal and that the Mig welder have been invented.
Regarding the race track.Its into an open mine yes.Built in 91-95,and because of the noise and such,it was a nice place to have it.Wont disturb any neighbours there.
