Rapid Thaw!

Last night the tempurature here got as high as 13 degrees! Couple that with extremely high winds starting this morning (up to 100k gusts) and it doesn't take long for the snow to melt. I couldn't believe it when I looked outside this morning. I could see my lawn! I took a walk to the back of my yard and noticed the creek in the park behind my place ain't so little:

She's just about to spill the banks:

Usually it's at most knee deep. I'd say it's about 6 feet deep right now.
I think this is the highest I've seen it in 4 years of living here. I don't expect we'll have any flooding issues at my place as I'm on higher ground. Veterans of the area have seen the park completely flooded in the past. I don't think this will happen this time as temps are supposed to drop later today. More snow on the way for tomorrow and Tuesday. Hooray..

You guys sure like the extremes don't you???!!! No danger of that here anyway.

We are fortunate if we see a thaw between now and the end of January.

Ditto in the Big Smoke, If the Don River will spill it's banks that floods out Bayview Avenue and Rosedale Valley Road area when it happens, makes it hard to get downtown from my neck of the woods. Flood warnings issues for all areas by Toronto Conservation Authority.

Same here. It's been cold. Not much for snow though when I think of some years.

No flooding in sight yet...
