My buddy raced this car all through the '70's and into the early '80's. Mostly in the St.Thomas / Ubly MI area. Story from him is the doors on this car are one of the actual sets from the '55 in "Two Lane Blacktop". He bought them 2nd hand through an ad in National Dragster way back when people still hated that movie ! I know it is not CP but it has somewhat of a Pontiac twist to it ..
Those are the doors that were recoverd(found) during the two lane resto. the two lane car came out of canada, that is where the current owner found it.

fyi: 55 Chevy 2 dr post in "Two Lane Blacktop" - driven by James Taylor with Dennis Wilson riding shotguy, and 55 Chevy 2 dr post in "American Grafitti" driven by Harrison Ford are the same car. The car rolled at the end of American Grafitti is actually a hardtop with a black 2x4 for a b-pillar post.

I don't know about any Carter family, but it was Sheldon Hudson who owned it back then. He still runs "Plum Wild 2 " its a '65 F85 Oldsmobile. Pure Olds power and he pulls the wheels in the first 3 gears !it is quite a sight. Yes ,that is the same Atchison Machine and that's my Dad's diner on the quarter panels. I was also under the impression that there were 3 cars .... cool.
Atchison was a performance machine shop located in London, Ont. I'm not sure if they are still in business. Back then you were cool if you said "Who did the heads, was it Atchies?"
Yep Atch Machine is still going strong. Done a couple of Pontiacs for me. Straight up guys. Really smart old school talent. Fixed a brand new set of KRE heads before I could use them !!
There is a good website for the 2 lane car. Explains everything, shows pitcures of those doors lying in the scrap, etc, etc. Cant remember it now. The car is restored. It came out of ontario, looked like the american grafitti car at the time, but has been restored to the correct 2lane car now. It was the "camera car"

I used to race against Plum Wild 55 chev back in the 70s with my FBI (69 Pont) The owner of the car then was Sheldon Hudson . He was a strong competitor (with his leather cowboy hat) I heard he is still racing but he has a cutlass or chevelle. Nice to see old pictures that bring back alot of memories from St. Thomas Dragway
Hes runnig a 455 Olds Cutlass still runs a 5 speed.. pulls the wheels up , but not as impressive, as that crazy guy, with the green Pontaic amd small block
