The Acadian was a brand produced by General Motors of Canada from 1962 to 1971.

This brand was introduced to Canadian dealers Buick and Pontiac, the idea was to have a compact (Coupe) to sell as the Pontiac Tempest is not marketed in Canada for marketing reasons.

The original plans were that the Acadian was based on the chassis of the Chevrolet Corvair, a model that was produced at the Oshawa General Motors, but those plans were changed based on the chassis of the Chevy II, a concept that was introduced in the year 1962 and would be marketed under the name of rest.

Later model adds Beaumont, which was based on the chassis of the Chevelle, but also contained some high-style Pontiac, and taillights, mask, board, among others.

In Canada from 1966 to 1969 Acadian Beaumont and brands were sold by independent distributors of Pontiac, however, were not considered as models of Pontiac itself. It also produced several models of Acadian, which include: Sedan, Station and Convertible models were never chile.

It is in the mid-60s in Chile began to flourish in the automotive industry, starting at birth of which would be the only plant in the first vehicle arm of Canadian origin in Chile.

In the city of Arica, northern Chile, was the vehicle industry TECNA LTDA. that the plant was dedicated to the armed and integrated component of Acadian. The vehicles were brought by boat from Canada unarmed, in wooden boxes to be assembled here in Australia.

It was in 1962 that the first Acadian released from the plant TECNA LTDA. Based on the platform of the Chevy II and was called rest.

Since 1963, the model adds Beaumont with an engine 6-cylinder in-line and 230 cubic inches. Canada could be found in this model with different engine: 230, 250 and 396, the latter was put into the sports version of the Beaumont SD 350 HP.

Like other brands, the Acadian was also part of the technology "Chilean Creole, including the creation of parts in fiberglass, at that time called" plastic ", an initiative that led to discredit the industry, because these parts will break easily if not handled with due care.

In the 1965 model year will be incorporated into the hood and trunk lid fiberglass and only returned to the original metal hood Canada in early 1971.

The first one in 1962.

enominado Cans, was a four-door Chevy II, not too flashy, which is particularly distinguished by some chrome.

The second model was in 1963.

Here comes the Beaumont Coupé, with a very pure design, with the same design of the little known coupé Chevy II, low ceiling, and it was a real low as only 1500 were built.

The third model was in 1965.

It was put together in Chile, the Acadian would be the most elegant, grand and formal, but it was a small two-door limousine. The body was that of the Chevelle, but it looks very modified with special accessories for the Acadian and the mask and the interior of the Pontiac Tempest.

Elegant and smooth ride, built on the chassis rear articulated where each section was independently connected to the main chassis. Were equipped with motor and apparently some 230, the automatic version with 250.

From 1965 until the end of the mark in 1971, Beaumont began to be manufactured with a front similar to the Pontiac.

The fourth model was in 1967.

This year the style changes a lot, and you start to use the body of the'67 Chevelle, which was characterized by having the rear glass in an almost straight line, because the roof is connected to the trunk through two small fins. A highly desirable vehicle for those who like cars looking Coupé. Provided with the same 6-cylinder engine 140 HP. Its lightweight body and they did very good aerodynamic corridor.

This model was only manufactured for two years, however Beaumont is looking more muscle, that feeling grew to be a very clean design, almost without chrome.

The fifth and last model was in 1969.

Chile reached the most typical and Beaumont recalled: The GTA model, based on the body of the Fast Back Malibu Sport Coupe. While this model is for some the most aerodynamic, soft and comfortable, due to the integration of the latest technology, the most original suspension mounted spirals, transistorised radio, alarm leave the keys in contact, among others.

In 1971, Chile was perhaps the country where he sold the last Beaumont. It was exactly the model of 1969, but with a metal hood with two beautiful fake air intakes.

Your Colors.
The range of colors of the Acadian was very diverse, were offered in the typical pastel colors of General Motors: soft yellow and white until 1967. Gray-green metallic, grayish blue metallic red.

In 1969-1971 some burgundy and very few in two special colors: a beautiful colored dark purple with white trim and a shocking "intense gold."

Models 1963 and'67 to'71 included as optional vinyl roof

RE: chilean beaumont speedometer

I am looking for a kilometer speedometer for my 68 Beaumont.  Do you know if the Chilean 69 Beaumont (which may use the same dash as the Canadian 68 Beaumont) has a kilometer speedometer, and if so, do you know where I can get one?

Boy, do they ever look a lot like the 1967 250 crest that was used on Chevelles, Chevy IIs & Camaros.
