Was there a Canadian Pontiac equivalent of the Nomad?

I know about the American Star Chief Custom Safari 2-door....

And, here's a link to a huge image of the 42¢ USA stamp - http://www.usps.com/communications/newsroom/2008stamps/downloads/finsandchrome/safari_300dpi.jpg

Was there a Canadian equivalent? Enquiring minds want to know. biggrin

There was a Canadian Pontiac 2 door wagon but not a sporty model like that Safari. We have experts on board who will know all.

Yes there was - it was the Sport Safari.  I have only ever seen one and it was a fully restored example out on the east coast.

Its basically a nomad with the canadian pontiac front sheetmetal, trim, and interior.  Very cool car.

To the best of my knowledge there never was the only 2D wagons were the same as 1957 2 door Ch*vy handyman wagon. One was a Pathfinder and the other a Pathfinder deluxe. But we did have the sedan delivery that was marked under the GM truck Department . There is no American equivalent to this model .

Someone in the know should inform this website that the sedan delivery they're showing off is NOT a Chieftain, although they do claim it has a 287c.i. under the hood. wink

There never was an a Canadian equal to the Americian Safari builtin 1955 -1957. There were only Sedan Deliveries built in 55-57  Pathfinders 2 door stationwagons in 1955, Pathfinder  and Pathfinder Deluxe 2 door  and 4 door stationwagons in 1956 and 1957. Maybe someone has installed a front clip from a 55-57 Canadian Pontiac on a 55-57 Nomad but the rear quarters would still be Chevrolet. Neat concept but the Chevy guys would think you are crazy for doing it.

I saw one...and it had the nomad roofline with pontiac quarters and sport safari emblems.    It also has the short canadian pontiac front fenders.

Maybe someone made one?
