Picked up a new winter Poncho

Well after much hassle & grief I finally sold both my Cadillac and Avalanche. Got me a supercharged Poncho again to drive for the rest of this winter season. Hey Todd wanna drag race the Ultra against the Bonni?

That's a good question Ray. I don't really know as I never compared the test times. This one fells like it has more jam when the boost is up than my 97 Deville, but not as strong as my 99 STS.

We should look like a couple of geezers eh? Park Ave against a Bonneville. What does the winner get, a can of prune juice?

I'm sure the 01 GP will be the heads up winner, until Todd hooks up a bottle of NOS!

I did some searching, here is what I came up with from the web:

Cadillac STS 0- 60 - 6.7 seconds
Cadillac Deville 0-60 - 7.5 seconds
Pontiac Bonneville  S/C - 0 -60 7.5 seconds
Pontiac Grand Prix S/C - 0 - 60 6.6 seconds
Buick Electra Ultra S/C - 0 - 60 7.6 seconds

I noticed the V8 Pontiacs as follows:

Grand Prix 5.3 V8  - 0 - 60  5.9 seconds
Bonneville GXP (Cadillac Northstar 4.6 V8) - 0-60 6.8 seconds

Anyone on here ever drive one of the 5.3 Grand Prix's? Do they have much torque steer?

I drove an Impala SS with the V8. They do have a little torque steer but nothing like the earlier high perf front drive cars.
They sound pretty good too.

I prefer the Bonneville with the Northstar over the Grand Pix or ImpalaSS, but they are a rare car around here. Cadillac STS or DTS are easier to find and almost the same price!  Hey Todd, I almost forgot about the supercharger whine until I took it out to the 401 today. That's what happens when you get used to the geezer Cadillac.

this thread made me look into what my PT loser 2.4 gt turbo will do. Heres what i found in an article...

PT Cruiser GT Turbo with automatic transmission tested this year accelerated to 100 km/h in 7.93 seconds. For a 1500-kilogram car with a four-cylinder engine, that is quick. And what you would expect from 215 hp and 245 lb-ft of torque.

I geuss i might have to do some racing too.....fun!!

Oh yeah, Join in Trevor. I think it's pretty easy to get even more out of those Mopar Turbo 4's. Modern sleepers that are able to run decent numbers.

when i told my youngest brother that i got the PT the first thing he said was i will trade you engines. he has a neon as a "play" car and said that he can make more power out of my turbo engine and maybe someday i will do that but it is our "family" car and i dont want to break it yet! It does have alot of torque steer though and im not used to that.

Here's some sobering data:

1964 GTO  4 speed 389/325 HP  0-60 7.7 seconds ( Motor Trend)

1970 GTO  455  4 speed 0-60  6.6 seconds (Car & Driver)

1974 GTO   0-60  9.4 seconds (Motor Trend)

So basically a Cadillac, Buick two 4dr Pontiacs and PT cruiser can run with these "legends".

I search GM Canada's used car finder and there are no Bonneville GXP's within 500 km of Toronto at a GM Dealer. I did find one on ebay.

Here is one on ebay
