I was wondering if front disc brakes from a 70 Impala will bolt on to my 65 wagon it belive it is the same. I have the complete set up spindles included has any one done this before I belive it will work feel free to let me know your thoughts
Yes, it will work as long as you change the spindles. It's a bolt on. I've done it a couple of times on 65-70 cars using 69-70 large hub, single piston caliper setup.
cool thats what i was hoping it would be i have a complete set up in fact it was on my 55 Chev before i switched it over to a proper disc set up. Back in the 70's People put 69-70 brakes on 55-57 chevs and wow what a nightmare steering was horible and the ball joints did not even fit but the damn thing stoped and turned. I kept the spindles, rotors, calipers, even brake lines, and complete master with prop valve knowing i would find a home for it one day hahahaha
A few months back there was a discussion on disc brakes on B bodies and one of the points brought up was using 14" wheels. I was never able to find any B body 14" wheel that would clear the 68 4 piston disc brake setup that I put on my 66 years ago. I think we arrived at that same fact when we discussed it here. I suspect the 69-70 single piston caliper will be the same. Just something to keep in mind if you are planning a conversion.
