I found the original warranty book for my newly acquired 65 Laurentian wagon and it was sold April 27 1965 to AVIS rental car of Calgary I think that is way cool So I will spend time finding information about AVIS rentals in the era and make it a part of my display for car shows
First owners is cool but a RENTAL car is even cooler if you ask me i have doc's on 1/2 of my 12 cars none have ever been rentals just so different and if i read the papers right i bougt it form the guy who bought it from AVIS so that make me #3 wooohooo

That is exactly the same day my Acadian was shipped from Ontario to Winnipeg! 4-27-65!!! I always liked that when I was running the 427 in my Acadian, it was a 427 65!
What a great day in Canadian Poncho history!!!

If my memory is correct I believe Avis would have been on 8th Ave. I worked there in the summer of 1965 washing and jockeying cars so there is a good chance I would have driven the wagon. Unfortunately I dont remember doing so.
The only car I do remember driving that summer was a brand new Cadillac. I had to drive it to the airport one day. I took a small detour, picked up my girlfriend and took her for a ride. The trip to the airport took me over an hour compared to the normal time of 20 minutes. Im not sure it was the car or the girlfriend that I remember more but Im thinking it was probably the girl.
it has the engine code and Key codes too boot which is good cause it has no keys so I hope the two I had made work I will know Feb 14 when i go there to see it again
So much for my memory. I was trying to remember which avenue Avis was on in those days and thought it was 8th. So much has changed downtown that unless you have a photographic memory or failing that a photograph things can get misplaced.
At least I'm sure about the Cadillac and the girl.
yup, Stampede Pontiac was at the corner of 14th Street & 17th Avenue SW. Avis has a location at 211 - 6th Ave SW, at the 6th Avenue entrance to the Bay Parkade (Bow Parkade). The 240 - 6th Avenue SW location would have been bull-dozed when they built Bow Valley Square in the 70's. Cool.
As long as the lock cylinders haven't been changed, the keys you had cut from the codes should work. When I bought my green car I had the local GM dealer get the key codes from George Zapora, and they cut me new ones. They worked perfectly - much better than making copies of well work keys.
It would be cool to display with some period vintage memorabilia. You might try checking the microfiche archives at your local newspaper or library to see if you can find any period ads.

Excellent idea i have Emailed AVIS and had no responce yet ( i dont expcect one ) and looked on the net for any AVIS period stuff. But I like the Library idea I would like an Ad and rate chart way tooo coool and it will go with my vintage Calgary Parking meter .05 that works perfectly, and my drive in speaker. I checked with GM historical and ony 683 of this model were built and it was sent to Stampede Motors April 23 1965

Keep us posted. They look good. and the cloth insert covers are usually more expensive than the all vinyl. Whats teh story on AIS? do they have covers for all old cars? price seems reduculously cheap.

They do not match the originals ( and for $319.00 USD i dont care ) but i am not restoring my car just making it a nice driver. They have a very nice original 60's look to them and there is no differeance for cloth or all vynal and pleated or not all same price. they are supposed to have over 7,000 patterns and have been making covers since 1942
http://www.customseatcovers.com/index.htm this is a link to the company that made the items i bought them through a canadian compnay AIS and it worked out great so far autointeriors@xplornet.com
If you want "orignal" this may not be the place ( the pressed vynal is not easy to reproduce espcially on CANADIAN Pontiacs) but i was told that they could duplicate my original 63 Skylark interior
And besides for the money it is better than WalMart seat covers HAHAHAHAHAHA
