Third line player playing way over his head. Career year, inflated value of self, time to deal him while he's worth something. He forced the trade not Burke. If I was running the team and I was Burke he would have been gone second day I was on the job, but being the big leaguer he is Burke is smarter than me and got way more than this guy's worth by waiting.

They beat one of the top 5 teams in the NHL tonight, Gerber was outstanding and some of the AHL players stepped up to fill the spots vacated by Andropov and Moore.

I was alive last time they won the cup but one thing I know is that where ever they play in Canada the crowd is either more vocal for them or at least evenly split.

Most of my life has been spent playing and coaching and I'm 51 so that's a long time. I know plenty of pros and pros to be, played with and coached a few. I'd say I know a little bit about the game.

Calgary is a serious contender this year and they have substantially strengthen the roster at the trade deadline. I look forward to watching them play whenever I can. Vancouver on the other hand is actually a bigger joke than the Maple Leafs because they, along with their fans think they are a contender.

I have to agree with Ray. The moves Calgary made definitely strengthen them down the stretch and make them a legitimate Cup contender.
Vancouver, I'm sorry, I think big # 13 has had too much time off and won't make that much difference in the end.
As to the Leafs, that was absolutely inspired play in front of Gerber last night. Maybe that's all he needed, a fresh start in a place where nothing is really expected of him. He did help Carolina win the Cup in 06. If they get anything out of him, Burke will have scored a major bonus for nothing. Moore was one of my favourite players on the Leafs and along with Jason Blake was part of the best 1-2 punch the Leafs had this season. Unfortunately sometimes politics and outside issues dictate a player's future with a team, not his efforts and talent, so I guess we will just have to wait to see who Burke drafts with this pick to see if the Leafs come out ahead or not.
