Anyone know of this car? I have the POP and warranty book plus a couple other papers for this car. The car was sold new at Addison on Bay LTD in Toronto. James
I can tell you that the dealer Addison on Bay was a landmark Cadillac dealership which sold Pontiacs, Buicks & GMC as well.
Bay Street is Canada's Wall street and legend says more Cadillacs were sold over the phone than in person. Even back in the 40's when it was built it was a drive in service counter, the floor was black and white ceramic tile in the customer drive in area, oak wainscoting and trim. They would take your car up a ramp to the service bays which were two floors and a third floor on the top exposed to the elements for parking and body work.
The guys who worked the parts counter were really good and could get almost anything for you. It was convienient when I worked downtown to walk over at lunch and get parts then browse the showroom.
Like most city dealers, skyrocketing real estate and residiential demand meant it's demise. Huge condo's going up but they did save the historic oak majestic entrance for use on the condo.
