I want to install the 55 Chev Rock guards and Rocker trim on my Ponch, I think it looks good and will compliment the side body moldings as well as offering protection ............... My concern is fitting the Rock Guards, the fender openings on the Canadian models appear to be identical to the Chevy's and to be the same distance to the door edge. Can anyone see any reason why this might not work?
It will definately work. The sill mouldings and the front fender shields are correct accessories for the 1955 Canadian Pontiacs. They are shown in the 1955 accessory brochure for Canadian Pontiacs. The brochure clearly identifies these mouldings as a Canadian Pontiac only and not for the Americian Pontiacs. I am also going to install a set om my 55 as just last week I won a set of nos fender shields on ebay. I already had the nos rocker mouldings.
If any Chevy purists wants to bet you they were chevy only bet lots. I get a kick out of proving them wrong!
Al, I was pretty sure it would work but confimation is always a good thing before pulling the pin. Be sure to Post a pic if ya get 'er done any time soon.

The correct fender and rocker trim for a 56 Pontiac would be the 56 Chev accessorie trim pieces.
Al
I like the look of the 55 fender and rocker trim better - will they fit on a 56 Canadian Pontiac? Don't your car and my car have the same rocker panel and front wheel cutout profiles?
AND - please post a picture of your car with the trim on!
Thanks, Dave

I'm not so sure Al, the 56 Chevy fender profile appears more swept back and 56 Laurentian looks the same as the 55 to my eye. I could be wrong, perhaps Dave could upload a profile of his 56 to compare to the 56 chev and our 55's

Man, all of the pictures of my car outside, with the flat black paint, and black tires, and deep shade in the wheel wells, you cannot see any profile at all!!!
But I did find one in the garage ((on jack stands, so wheels are drooping) with plenty of light, so we all can compare:
Here's another, closeup of front fender, with the front of the car off the jack stands and on the ground (with brand new full-height springs and 2" dropped spindles):
And I think you are right, Judd.
Dave
P.S. Do you like the Persian rugs on the floor in my garage?

Mark, did you ever do this?
If so, please post pictures and comment about fitment.
Thanks, Dave

Nope didn't get a round to it this year Dave, maybe next, I'll be sure and report back, with pics when I get 'er done..........................Oh and Congrats on getting the "Old Girl" out on the road (and the Ponch as well)
Here ya go Judd55. I did as best I could. From what I could tell it will be a real close fit. The only way to really tell for sure from pics it to have pictures with an exact same side profile pic from similar distances with high resolution pictures. This should give you a good idea though.
Hey Thanx for that Jode, nice job.............At this point I am undecided about the fender trim, I'm worried it could clash with the vent window trim as well as being a slightly different angle to it as well, I may just go with the rocker trim at this point. We'll see...................... Cheers Judd
Either way you go I know it will be nice. Your car sure looks nice. I'm going to start a post to find out if a 55 bumper fits well with the '56. I have found a guy who has a nice 55 front end (which I am partial to). My 2 front bumpers are pretty trashed up.

1955 fenders have same part number as 1956 fenders so there should be no problem there. However these little pieces (which need to match up to the bumper) are different on 55 versus 56
So be sure to take these off the 55 too. (And I really need better pieces for my 56 so don't throw them out, OK?)
It might be just as easy to put on the entire 55 front end, fenders and all? Should bolt right up.
(btw I also much prefer 55 front end to 56)
Dave
