1939 pontiac convertible info


can anybody help me with my latest  find,
it`s a `39 pontiac convert, cowl tage reads  2867
can anybody share more about how many of these were made?
and are ALL of them made from the 120 body? were any ever made of the 115 A bodys?

Very cool!.
What's the condition like and how complete is it?.
I may have US production figures at home...I'll check and get back to you if so..
2867 is an 8 cyl. car..
Does the Cowl tag note a US or Canadian car?.
Pretty sure all US convert cars where 120 WB...may be possible that a Canadian car could be built on a 115 WB like a Chevy but they didn't build 39 Chevy rags so???

this is a big project, it`s more of a rescue effort,,,,,,
i have that page already, but i`m interested in finding just many convertibles were built ,can`t seem to find the need info.
LOOKS LIKE A US VERSION,,,,,,,can anybody tell me  if there was a difference?

2867 is the Deluxe Eight Convertible Coupe. It sold for $1046 in the US and was 3,250 lbs. When checking the data plate there will be a letter before the serial number. P for Pontiac Michigan, C for Southgate California and L for Linden New Jersey. This info was taken from John Gunnell's book 75 Years of Pontiac Oakland.

That also looks like a book i need to buy. does it also tell you in that book, just HOW MANY CONVERTIBLES WERE MADE? TOTAL PRODUCTION.......
I`m more a chevy guy, so this is my 1ST pontiac..... i have other chevy converts, but i love this body style of the `39

did canada build convertibles also?
the reason why i ask is , about 10 years ago i had a chance to buy another 39 convert. but it was waaayyy up in canada, with a parts car,,the seller stated that it was canadian built, to him that meant the larger body? 120" 
but was there 2 builders? us and canada for these??
the one i have IS a US built car.

Pontiac production was very low in Canada in 1939 with 4966 being built. Only two lines were built in Oshawa the Chieftien and Arrow. John Gunnels book says the cars were built in Ottawa but this may be a misprint as I do not know for sure if any GM cars were built in Ottawa. I am going to guess but again I am not going to guarantee that all Canadian built Pontiacs were built on the Chevrolet A body in 1939.

That's an Oshawa car: the '0' after the model number indicates OSHAWA. An '8' afterwards indicates REGINA.
