rofl.gif That one was too easy Steve!

I'm jealous. That will be cool. I've thought about doing one of those sometimes too. It sure would be handy. My neighbour (with the nice 67 Beaumont) has one.

I think it's one of the more usefull tools I've ever made.
Balance the body just right, and It'll spin with one hand.
And it rolls sweet on 4" rubber wheels, two on one end fixed, two on the other steer.

Keep us posted Steve!

Mine is holding my Acadian. They are perfect for your body man to turn the car on its side, roll it into a corner and maybe work on it some day.

Yes, It comes apart to store. it's in pieces right now...hopefully not for long though. I'm ready to get back at it!

Steve...the one thing I'm really glad I added to the rotis, were these adjustable feet.
Basically a threaded rod inside a tube, washers and nuts top and bottom with a piece of square plate as the foot.
When working on the car, I adjust them down, raising the wheels off the ground slightly. Plants the body firmly so it doesn't move around at all when working on it. Also, if you have to flatbed the whole thing somewhere, it helps keep it from moving during transport.
You could have locking wheels, but they'd never keep it sitting as solid as these. Worth the time to fab.

Steve, will you make body adjustable as to the cg in relation to the rotis?
It took me a little adjusting up and down to find that "sweet spot".

Cheers, Mark.

i wasn't going to. i was just going to use the chain hoist for rotation if it was to heavy. looking at it i think i will, i have enough extra steel. i'm at the state of the build there won't be any backwards steps. i like the threaded legs for stops thanxs mark

Have you thought of fitting a gear-assembly with a 5-1 ratio that will allow you to rotate and lock into the required position? Comparative example is a barbeque rotisery using a pedalcycle cog and wipermotor to turn your favourite venison!

I think absolutely you're far off better balancing the body on the rotis, instead of trying to force it around into position when need be. Off center will only cause undue stress on the body and rotis when you try to rotate it. Plus it's nice to be able flip it around by hand.
You can see Steve, that the cg is about center of that horizontal stamping on the firewall. That might at least give you a rough estimate of where you need to be.

Cheers, Mark.
