Good colour choice, very well done, it's a sharp looking ride.  What gears do you have in the back?  Did it come with a posi?

That's a great story about buying the car. I would be estatic if I went to look at a 66 Chevelle and found that instead! As time marches on the Canadian cars are the ones to have.

I agree with Earl. I'd easily take a Beaumont over a Chevelle. I don't care what Chevelle's sell for.

Marty

Although I love the colour you painted it, did you change it from Aztec because you didn't like the Aztec?

Those wheels look great. Any advise to a guy who may want to replicate your wheels? I'm thinking that the dog dish are hard to come by?...
thx

Going through the Feature Car archives and came across one of my all time favorites (this one) and thought it deserved a bump for those who never did see it. I think Marty did a phenomal job in his restoration. (And I really like the steelies and dog dish. One of the few cool wheel choices in 66 aside from after market.)

Ahh, Spring is in the air. The best part of Spring is not seeing the flowers starting to grow and the birds return from their winter trip south. Oh no. It's seeing great old Canadian iron on the road again. And the epitome of great Canadian iron is Marty Chapman's awesome '66 Beaumont SD. With a healthy 327 backed by a 4 speed trans, you can surely bet the song from this Beaumont's tailpipes is far sweeter than any Spring song bird could produce! Here's a little more about this SD in Marty's own words:

"I purchased this beaumont in July of 2003 from Quesnel BC. I made the deal over the phone being told it was a 66 chevelle SS. I live approx 8hrs from where the car was and figured for the asking price it would be well worth it. I was told the car had recently ran and that the rust wasn't that bad. I arrived in Quesnel with trailer in tow and went to get my new project. As soon as I saw it I knew that it wasnt a Chevelle, but a 66 Beaumont 2dr hdtp SD with a 4speed. I had looked the car over and realized that this was going to be a ton of work but with what it was I went ahead with it.

I got it home and started collecting the parts that were needed to get the car completed to stock. I tried to turn the motor and unfortunatly is was siezed solid. I was getting ready to purchase a crate motor from my local Chevy dealer but got conformation that it was the #'s motor for the car so off to the machine shop that went.
carpics013.jpg
The next 3 years was nothing but collecting parts and in the summer of  2006 the Beaumont resto was started. First got the body off the frame to evaluate what I have. Well to make it short for you both 1/4's, both inner tubs, full trunk pan, both doors, both floor pans, and the left fender were replaced with new metal. The motor was fully rebuilt.

carpics012.jpg

A full interior kit (chevelle) was installed and the car has been painted Dark Torador Red (01 GM color)

The car was originally Aztec Bronze with white interior. It does have the F41 suspension package and a few other options. Unfortunately, I can't find the build sheet. The car was completed in April of 08 and has definately been a chore. Approx 99% of the build was done right at home in the shop except the motor build and the final paint I have to pass along a huge help to a friend that if it wasnt for him this Beaumont wouldn't have gotten near the resto that it finaly did."
