Need motor info


Ok guys Ive found a big block   now who can tell me about it  ie;horse power rating   2 x  4 bolt main etc   block #1401544   i know its a 84 truck/motorhome    see what else u can find out     tks 65 s/d

I think you are missing one digit in that casting number.

A good place to start is www.mortec.com

Also, I google casting numbers with pretty good success.

Below is a link to the site I usually use for casting numbers. Your block is listed as a 1975-87 454 truck engine. You need the engine code to get the horsepower but I would guess it is rated at 200 -250 hp. There is a good chance that it's a 4 bolt main block.

Yup, that one is listed as 78-90 2 or 4 bolt

Is there a date casting on the block on the opposite side to where you found that number? That should give you the date exactly, not that it really matters too much I guess.

How about the head numbers? Do you have those?

But the thing is how much torque, that's why it's in a Motorhome.

Im working on getting to the head numbers (after all it is a motor home eh) but we fired it up rattled, and snarled, but it came to life sounds real good, tranny works great  but the brakes now that's another story  ''BRAKES WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING BRAKES''    Ill be posting some pics soon so stay tuned    65s/d
