After recieving two lungs 18 months ago my brother in law passed away yesterday at the age of 57. He fought a 35 year battle with a rare lung disease and was fortunate enough to get the transplanted lungs. This operation gave him an extra 18 months with my sister and their two kids aged 17 and 12 . If anyone on here has not made thier donation intentions  know to thier family please do as you cannot underestimate the thankfullness from the patient and their loved ones. An organ donation is a gift of Life and I'd like to thank the famiies out there who have done so.

My Brother-in-law has recieved two kidney transplants, First one lasted 8 years second didn't take. As Al says you can not know the hope and joy that a transplant brings the recipient the family and loved ones. His kidney function failed at 25 he is now 44 and in total he has had only 8 years free from dialysis. Kidney dialysis patients have one of teh highest suicide rates.

Our condolenses Al on the loss of your Brother-in-Law.

I've done that, my Chevy heart and Poncho lungs goes to the first bidder. It goes with your drivers licensing somehow.

Almost 20 years ago my cousin Angela (she's about 6 years older than me)received a kidney from her younger sister Sharon (who was my age).  Angela is still doing very well, and sadly Sharon passed away about 3 years ago.  I'm sure Angela is very thankful for the donation.
