Would there be any one out there that could help me in hooking up the vacuum wipers on my 58? The wiper motor is quite different to any I have ever seen as it has three ports on it! Two are larger in diameter with the third being smaller! I know it would be better if I was to convert to electric but right now after all the money I have just spent on the car it is out of the question! Perhaps if someone had a trico parts book it might show a vacuum diagram that I could use as the shop manual shows nothing!!!! Thanks for your help! PS the car has washers but they are separate from the wiper motor using a manual operation.

The 2 that are the same size (should be next to each other) are for the windshield washer (pump is built into your unit), one will suck the fluid out of the jar, the other will pressure feed the hoses that lead to the nozzles to squirt the windshield. Might be marked in/out? If not, experiment, one way will make the washer squirt.
The other one is the vacuum source for the wiper motor, attach a hose from it to your intake manifold fitting (or might be under the carb).
That should work.

Dave Thanks for the info! I have tried that sequence already and can get the wipers to move very slowly on the up stroke and somewhat faster on the down stroke! I think since the wipers have not been used for a long time the vacuum motor will need to be cleaned and restored! I have done a few over the years so will take it off the car and work on it! Washers right now are not needed just the wipers! If all fails, I will get an electric motor! Appreciate the quick response! Bob.

Take the motor off it is very simple. Once you have it off disassemble it clean it out and put some lite grease or oil were the plunger sweeps back and forth and it will work fine mine did the same thing when I got my wagon

Glad your wipers are working now Bob! Your rebuild plan sounds good too.
Not sure why the washers on the car now are separate and manual (meaning, step on a foot bulb? Or what?). Do they look like aftermarket add-on? Or factory? Maybe factory system quit and prior owner just added on an aftermarket system instead of fixing it? (I have seen people do that with turn signal systems.)
Does your wiper knob have a push button on it (which would be to actuate the pump that I think is built into your wiper motor - the pair of extra ports)? If so, maybe you could get the original washers to work - hey, you got the wipers to work, why not go all the way?!
When you hook up the washers, if you don't have the jar anymore use any old container (I am using a Schweppes 1 liter bottle for my radiator catch can, maybe I'll use a Bombay gin bottle for my washer bottle ) and some rubber hose of the proper ID to hook it up? A cool upgrade, eh?

If I'm not mistaken, I think washers were optional. So if you ordered one on your car, maybe you also had the option of manual or vacuum?
