This is my 72 LeMans, "Big Blue" How it sat when I brought it home a few weeks ago. I've since began the deconstruction and made some minor repairs.
It's still pretty rough, but seeing all the great looking cars here, makes me feel optimistic about getting it finished.
I've got a pile of parts and a lot of work to do. The worst of which is inner fender & wheel house work, along with frame & floor work. I hope to have it on the road by summer's end.

Nice car-had one in my teens-'A' bodies are nice to build relatively easy to get parts for-avoid offshore repop as much as possible-its not that good-or should I say Crap but it is nice that its available. There are still plently of parts cars out there you should be able to get stuff from-it helps the "green" people when you reuse old parts insead of buying "new" parts built where enviromental laws are so lax.
any opinions or advice can be offered-appraiser/licensed bodyman
I got the same non power drums up front. If you can get disc's .....it would be a good idea. Find the 2 letter code on the passenger side block...just below the head.
It looks like a good project to me. Hope you keep us posted as you progress.
Big blue should be big yellow, your paint codes on your cowl tags show 56 11. I believe 56 is Monarch yellow bottom and 11 is cameo white top. Nice to here from a Kingston chap, My Dad lives in Kingston, on Abbey Dawn road.

This 72 Lemans project is no worse than mine, there won't be a 2 letter code it's powered by a cheviac 350. I read somewhere that a chrome front valance means it was a Luxury Lemans at one point ? Maybe not Oshawa Lemans ??? Good luck with your project. By the way I used to live in Trenton Ontario back in 1987-92.
Thanks for the encouraging words everybody. Yeah, I'm in PMQs Steve.
I've got a bunch of friends in your Dad's nieghbourhood Ian, lol, small world. thanks for your help with my cowl tag too. Big Blue's on her third color. White over Yellow to Red, then after the previous owner saw the LeMans episode of "Wrecks to Riches" to True Blue.
I like the blue, so I think I'm going to respray it after I'm done the body work. The doors are junk, and the fenders are wavy.
Thanks again everybody for the advise & the encouragement.

Good luck, It doesn't look too bad though. I knew a guy that had a "sport" like that, same colors just with a hurst shifter bastardized into the floor!
I always wanted to use the Hurst Indy Matic shifter but never have. It's about $90 and hooks up to the THM 350, looks just like a 3 or 4 speed shifter when installed, comes with a boot and floor plate. I know in my 73 the cutout for the floor shifter is in the tunnel in the floor pan, lift the carpet and you might have the same.
^Yeah, 3inches out right under the doors. I've got a real exhaust for it coming on Thursday. I'm pretty sure it won't get through a safety the way it is now. lol
