Mini van Wheel vs BMW on 401

This happened in front of me on the way back from Quebec Easter weekend. On the hill by Port Hope an eastbound van lost the LF wheel. It crossed the barrier hitting this woman that had passed me earlier. Not sure what I was gonna find when I ran back to the car!She did an excellent job of keeping control, and had sunglasses on. That tire looked like it went 150ft straight up!Not a mark on the hood or front of the BMW.Very Lucky she was in a well built car.

You have to be alert at all times on the 401. This lady came in to work last summer. This rod fell off a transport and pierced her windshield:

I've had two close calls as well, one on HWY 400 and one on Don Valley Parkway.

First was on 400, a flatbed with a load of 4x8 plywood was in the centre lane and I was in the passing lane driving my X11 all of a sudden a few sheets lifted up off the bed any flew back, I had no time to lift and just blew threw one shattering it to pieces. Lucky no accident and minimal damage to my fibre glass cowl induction hood.

Next drivng my Suburban similar scenario, flatbed with a load of wheeled garbage conatiners, the biggies that businesses use. Of course he hits a bump and off they come, no time to lift and I blow threw one but this time the wheels and crap are flying and there was a chain reaction behind me. No damage to me of the big GMC

i followed a truck that was over loaded with used pallets (skids) ... i didnt notice that there were no hold down staps on the load of pallets untill the all fell off when he hit a pot hole ... luckily they all shatered/fell apart when they hit the road , one from on top of the load flew right over my truck .. missed me by about a foot .

the driver , who couldnt figure out how come the pallets would have possibly fallen off , was upset with the police that had arrived shortly after & given him a fine for the multiple safety infractions , including bald tires & lack of seat belts in his jalopy of a E250 econoline converted to flatbet pickup .

A number of years ago there was a man beheaded by a sheet of plywood that fell of a truck. It appears there have been a few lucky people in the stories above this.

This stuff happens everyday,if you're on the road much you see it all the time. I've been on the side of the road on Service Calls and had parts go by me at 70mph more than once!Biggest item I couldn't avoid was a pick up bedliner that blew out in Montreal,it just touched my roof as it went over, was loud but no damage.
